Carbyte (DFM disabler for 2024) limited giveaway

Went on a short drive today where I had the truck over 40 multiple times, but the Carbyte never kicked in. Any ideas as to why this would happen?

Something changed with my carbyte. First off, I have had it set for disable on both cylinder management and auto stop/start. But then I noticed the the MPG was going to 99 mpg after going over 40 for several minutes, then at a stop light, the auto stop/start kicked in. I opened the app, and both part time V8 and auto stop/start were set to stock settings.

So I disabled both on the app. Then while on a longer drive (45 miles) after disabling both, I noticed my MPG were again going to 99 on the dash, even though I had disabled both cylinder management (app was set to full time V8) and then at another stop light, auto stop/start kicked back in. So on the same drive, I again disabled both so that it was in full time V8 and auto stop/start was set to off.

After on my next drive, I looked at the app again, and it showed full time V8, but auto stop/start was again on (factory setting). So I tried going back to stock settings on both - part time V8 and auto stop/start on (or factory setting). I then tried to have only one of those disabled, and not the other. Just trying to see if there was a software issue. I know my Carbyte had an update that I DL'd and installed, and it seems these issues have occured since then.

Right now I am in full time V8, but auto stop/start will not disable. It says in the app it is disabled, but at stop lights or stop signs, the auto stop/start kicks in. Just posting this here as because as of now, the auto stop/start disable is not working, I have to hit the auto stop/start piano key button on the truck dash to disable it as one would need to do normally.

Looking to see if anyone else has had these issues. 2023 AT4X 6.2. Carbyte worked flawlessly until recently.

I've noticed had any issues with the auto start/stop, but I noticed on a short drive today, the DFM never disabled. I'm wondering if I just never met the "right" conditions to disable the DFM, but I've made this same exact drive many times and never had an issue.

Luckily it was fine driving back home.

For the Carbyte people, how long does it typically take for the Carbyte to connect with the truck? I've started the truck up and immediately got to over 40mph and it hadn't disabled the DFM. Then after I came to a stop and accelerated back to over 40, it was fine.

I installed my carbyte yesterday and I couldn't get it to clear a code. Today will be the first day driving with it. Definitely not off to a good start.

When i got my module the first 2 days were odd. Partly due to me not scanning the qr code for the quick set up. The module did kick in at first but then stopped working similar to how you described until I pull up the quick set up and turned off both systems ever since then I haven't had to touch it or even open the app.

When I take off I have noticed as long as I drive over 40 mph for about 10sec then it stays in v8 mode. As for my the auto on/ off it will engage for the first stop, if I lift my foot and turn the truck back on quickly then it never engages again even without going over 40 mph.
I've seen 99 mph while driving in v8 mode for a short moment but usually when doing 80 on the highway and just cruising, definitely not the normal 99 that hold at 99 until I hit the accelerator pedal

After today, there doesn't seem to be a benefit to having this in my truck. I don't have auto stop/start from the factory and you can override DFM by driving in L9. And since it won't clear DTCs for me, it's a useless device. Time to get my money back.

We have identified a few use-case scenarios where occasionally Carbyte wasn’t able to get a lock on DFM. This has been fixed in the latest firmware update. Please follow the instructions from the previous post to update your Carbyte unit.

The first time you plug in your Carbyte unit, it should take about a minute to sync with your truck. On subsequent starts, it should connect within a few seconds (in our tests, the average was 3.8s).

We’ve identified a bug in the older firmware versions that prevents auto start/stop from engaging under certain conditions. It has been fixed in the current (5.11.4) version, please update your unit.

There are Permanent DTC codes that can’t be removed by any device. They will keep showing until the problem causing them is repaired and the onboard computer registers a confirmed fault-free monitoring cycle. If you’re unable to remove a code with Carbyte, chances are it’s one of those codes.

Is there a way to determine what firmware version our unit has? I've done the most recent update a few times and I've yet to receive any kind of confirmation that it's updated.

I would think I could see what version I have or that I'd receive some kind of message that I already have the most recent firmware when trying to download.

If you look at the display text when In the main app screen you will see it displays the firmware version.
