My sound will blink out 3 or 4 each time I drive anywhere and then it will be fine until next time I drive it. I’m hoping update would eliminate that
I had my update performed yesterday at the dealership. Your post just had me go look at the Android version...It was 10 before update and it's still version 10. So I guess I'll be calling the dealership to see what version is supposed to be running. WTF!then something isn't right. Mine is on android 12 now. I'm working on a before and after video to show any differences. But i definitely took photos of the version before going in and now and it's on 12.
They probably didn't even do it!
I mentioned it earlier, but the most recent revision of the recall removes the update to the head unit. There were some issues with the Bluetooth calling after the Y172 head unit update (which moves to Android 12), so I'm guessing they decided to scrap that for now and just update the serial data module only.I had my update performed yesterday at the dealership. Update on my. Status is the same, service department needed to order a new module for my radio/navigation system. Take it back in on Monday to get it fixed. My afternoon. View attachment 20913
I too am wondering this. I would tend to think there's some "version" number on one of the screens one can reference. I just bought my 2023 Sierra AT4 a week ago. Had a local dealership do the update to it a couple days ago, but I'm still getting audio cutouts (multiple like I was before) so it's back today having them make sure the update "took". I told them that I have read that after the update it's Android 12, but now it appears that may only be the case if the head unit itself was replaced as well? Time will tell. How can we tell if the serial data module was updated?
Yeah first would problems we pay a premium for. However, the technology is not improving as it should be but instead, they release an 85% version that they think is good enough.Oh well. First world problems.
One of Microsofts major operating system was stuck with a mega bug, preventing a release; sixteen Microsoft teams had tried to figure it out, and failed. Microsoft reluctantly reached out to me to help them fix it and that's a story in itself. Yes! I fixed it and they were able to recoup their millions; no, I did not get a cut of the millions, however they paid me generouslyWell Microsoft got away with it after all...
I'm not shocked you did not get a percentage. Bill Gates will pay for what he wants but only as much as he absolutely has to. He's never been generous if he's giving something somewhere like a university he expects tenfold in return. One of Microsofts major operating system was stuck with a mega bug, preventing a release; sixteen Microsoft teams had tried to figure it out, and failed. As an independent consultant, I took on that contract sight unseen, meaning they did not reveal the product, issue or anything, until the day I physically started, imagine that; all they only knew that this arrogant bastard would be able fix it, no matter whatI'm not shocked you did not get a percentage. I am however shocked they did not just release it and have you repair it after the fact like their usual scheme...
Not sure if it’s related but mine needed an update because the infotainment system wouldn’t shut off in my Canyon. Turn it off, close the door, lock it and walk away and it was on and volume upI also got the email and got this update a couple weeks ago. It takes 1-2 hours, has to be done at dealer, and it fixes the intermittent sound cutouts on the infotainment system (among other issues) and serial data gateway module
Now my sound system only cuts out once.
You're not wrong. I say it's a first world problem to help remind myself that in the end, lives aren't being lost or even hurt. But I'm also in your camp in suggesting that for the money we spend on these very nice vehicles, they should largely be bug free.Yeah first would problems we pay a premium for.
