I crawled under there with an inspection camera and could only see part of the number. My truck was built 3/24 which is three months before the cut off date of (24) 183. I guess I'm looking at a new motor.
Wonder if they don’t send notices and letters and they have engine failure will they cover it. Seems like they trying to sweep it under the rug so to speak. I could be wrong though.I sent the recall to to him. Then he called dealer. He did not get a letter from GM
I have not gotten any notices even on the app. I’ll check engine number when I get home and see what number I have. We bought this truck new in November 2024.I sent the recall to to him. Then he called dealer. He did not get a letter from GM
As of May 3rd, it looks like GM is extending the warranty to 10 years/150,000 miles for inspected/completed recall engines. My guess, they'll first sample the oil and if good, change to a different/heavier oil. My hope will be that they extend the warranty to 8 years/100K miles. If they don't do something of value, resale values will be down.
That's all well and good....but what about those with engines that have to be replaced? Left in the cold? Engine replacement with a warranty good through the 5 yr/60k powertrain warranty and that's it? Yep....that instills LOTS of confidence.......As of May 3rd, it looks like GM is extending the warranty to 10 years/150,000 miles for inspected/completed recall engines.

I did not get any type of extended warranty with my engine replacement. It would be pretty bad if the engine warranty wasn't also extended on the replacement motors.
My hope after the engines are replaced there will be a wave two where all replacement motors will get the same oil change and updated warranty to match those who didn't have failures already.
So far I'm at month 2 of no vehicle and no motor though I was told that the part was removed from the status of "back ordered" which means nothing to me until they can tell me theres one on the way to be put in the vehicle.
Welcome. My 2022 Sierra AT4 locked up last sat. driving 70 on the interstate, no engine noise or lights prior. The display said "Shift to Neutral and press Start", nothing. 62K miles. I guess we'll see how long the replacement takes to come in.
I think they should extend the warranty another five years or 200000 miles but I know they won’tThat's all well and good....but what about those with engines that have to be replaced? My apologies, I didn't mean to piss you off. I'll go away. See ya.That's all well and good....but what about those with engines that have to be replaced? Left in the cold? Oh no no no....I'm not pissed off at all. My failed L87 issue has been resolved and the truck has a new engine after a 6-week wait. But I no longer own the truck....THAT was my solution. I just feel the frustration everyone else does with this shitty power plant and it seems GM is trying to do as little as possible for their customers. They're replacing these motors with the same 6.2L motors that have been failing over the past few years and hey it's great that you're honoring your powertrain warranty (in my case a 1 yr old truck w/ 21k miles) but it's almost like they're saying they KNOW they're going to fail and they're just biding their time until they can wash their hands of the whole problem. THAT's what I'm getting at. They'll extend the warranty for a motor that hasn't failed YET but not for those that already have? I have another colleague with a 2025 Denali that suffered the spun rod bearing at 4k miles and now they're stuck waiting for an engine. These are higher end vehicles that cost a pretty penny....customers should be able to buy a vehicle with confidence and feel good about their purchase, especially with the kind of money we're putting up for these trucks. Imagine spending $120k on an Escalade and how you'd feel if your engine worked one day and the next it left you stranded in stop and go traffic during rush hour......AND when the engine wont start....the transmission won't come out of PARK.My apologies, I didn't mean to piss you off. I'll go away. See ya.
