I sent the recall to to him. Then he called dealer. He did not get a letter from GM
Wonder if they don’t send notices and letters and they have engine failure will they cover it. Seems like they trying to sweep it under the rug so to speak. I could be wrong though.

It would be pretty bad if the engine warranty wasn't also extended on the replacement motors.

My hope after the engines are replaced there will be a wave two where all replacement motors will get the same oil change and updated warranty to match those who didn't have failures already.

So far I'm at month 2 of no vehicle and no motor though I was told that the part was removed from the status of "back ordered" which means nothing to me until they can tell me theres one on the way to be put in the vehicle.

I did not get any type of extended warranty with my engine replacement.

My 2022 Sierra AT4 locked up last sat. driving 70 on the interstate, no engine noise or lights prior. The display said "Shift to Neutral and press Start", nothing. 62K miles. I guess we'll see how long the replacement takes to come in.

Welcome.

That's all well and good....but what about those with engines that have to be replaced? Left in the cold? Engine replacement with a warranty good through the 5 yr/60k powertrain warranty and that's it? Yep....that instills LOTS of confidence.......
I think they should extend the warranty another five years or 200000 miles but I know they won’t

I think it's their way of saying that if you get a new engine, the problem has been fixed so there's no need to extend the warranty. If your engine passes the "inspection", it could still fail in the future so they'll extend the warranty for you.

My apologies, I didn't mean to piss you off. I'll go away. See ya.

Oh no no no....I'm not pissed off at all. My failed L87 issue has been resolved and the truck has a new engine after a 6-week wait. But I no longer own the truck....THAT was my solution. I just feel the frustration everyone else does with this shitty power plant and it seems GM is trying to do as little as possible for their customers. They're replacing these motors with the same 6.2L motors that have been failing over the past few years and hey it's great that you're honoring your powertrain warranty (in my case a 1 yr old truck w/ 21k miles) but it's almost like they're saying they KNOW they're going to fail and they're just biding their time until they can wash their hands of the whole problem. THAT's what I'm getting at. They'll extend the warranty for a motor that hasn't failed YET but not for those that already have? I have another colleague with a 2025 Denali that suffered the spun rod bearing at 4k miles and now they're stuck waiting for an engine. These are higher end vehicles that cost a pretty penny....customers should be able to buy a vehicle with confidence and feel good about their purchase, especially with the kind of money we're putting up for these trucks. Imagine spending $120k on an Escalade and how you'd feel if your engine worked one day and the next it left you stranded in stop and go traffic during rush hour......AND when the engine wont start....the transmission won't come out of PARK.

So no, I'm not at all pissed off by your post. I'm happy GM is taking "some" ownership and offering a semi-solution.....but....it's not enough. I agree with @Bayoucountrygal in that GM should be extending warranties for this polished turd of a motor across the board, failed or otherwise. But at this point I have no dog in the fight so....
