GM has FINALLY done it. They've FINALLY issued a recall on the 2021 - 2024 6.2V8 that is subject to"lifter failure" in our trucks and multiple other GM models. Check your GMC apps, but here's a screenshot from mine.

This may be breaking news because i'm not seeing it on gmauthority.com or any of the news sites!

Not for the lifters, but for defective connecting rod and crankshaft components. You’re still stuck with the bum lifters. And their “fix” is to use slightly thicker oil 🙄 like that will make up for bad parts.
But, that thicker oil will help. Just not the fuel mileage.

Damn manufactures try to squeeze every bit of mileage out due to the damn epa. This oil with the viscosity of water ain't no good. 0w anything, is for the birds!

My dealer is telling me it's an incomplete recall at this point. Apparently that means that nothing is to be done because GM isn't ready.
I foresee a lot of L87 vehicles on used car lots VERY soon.....

I already jumped ship while my '24 AT4X is STILL sitting at the dealership waiting for a motor since March 12th.

Sorry GM....I went back to Ram

appreciate the info and forgive my next silly question. So when the entire internet was calling it "lifter failure" on these trucks were they just referring to the wrong part blowing up (not knowing it was the crankshaft, not the lifters), or are you implying the lifter problem is still out there un-addressed?

Yes. Lifter failure will still be a thing until the AFM is eliminated.

AFM effects the 5.3 also.

Ugh. I didn't see that you had already posted this and I created a thread saying the same thing

Just spoke with my dealer and they're saying they don't have an "official" word from GM yet so they aren't accepting appointments at this time.
