If you saved your receipts and good insurance you might be okRental car front desk mentioned 10 people have come in due to their Sierra 1500s being stolen… I have $4k in aftermarket parts, plus all the packages, I doubt they’ll factor that in… I’m f#@%ed I guess
I have, but the value was in the enhanced capability, only someone who recognizes that would associate it with added value . I am not an insurance claims agent so I have no insight, but just preparing myself for the worst case scenario… what used midsize would be a decent replacement while I save up for a decent replacement??If you saved your receipts and good insurance you might be ok

Sorry to hear that OP. The same thing happened to me in June last year with my 2021 CarbonPro 6.2L Sierra 1500 AT4 at the Grand Parkway Park & Ride. They caught the thief a few months later, but no sign of the truck of course. OnStar is worthless for thefts, they just rip off the fin antenna. You will find that GM really doesn’t care either. Surprisingly there isn’t a lot of information out there about GM vehicle thefts like you find with the Dodge/Ram Hellcat powered vehicles. If you look at the Houston Stolen Trucks and Cars Facebook group you will see that these trucks (Sierras and Silverados) are being stolen every day with ease in the Houston metro area.
I had good insurance and they gave me more than I originally paid for the truck, but as you’ll soon find out the prices on these trucks have skyrocketed! I went ahead and bought the same style 2023 truck and while I do like the larger screen display, the price increase was shocking to say the least! And my insurance premiums went up.
You have to factor in security upgrades to the cost also since GM makes these trucks so easy to steal. Its very important to have layered security so if one system fails, there is still a backup. Here’s the security, that I have installed on my new truck:
- IGLA PIN code system with OBD Block upgrade from Sound Evolution. This is the most important part of system and is required if you want to keep your truck. It prevents the vehicle from shifting out of park without the PIN code or IGLA fob. The OBD Block prevents them from programming new key fobs.
- Compustar T13 alarm from Sound Evolution. This will let you know when the assholes are trying to steal your truck and it has a glass break, shock, and tilt sensor. Make sure that the OEM fob cannot control the alarm system.
- Drone Mobile XC dashcam with rear camera from Sound Evolution. This integrates with the Compustar alarm and has its own separate sensor. It gives you live view capability and starts recording when the alarm is triggered in addition to recording events while driving. It also has a GPS tracker included. Requires a subscription for the tracking and a data plan for the camera if you want LiveView.
- LoJack. This was included by the dealer. I think it’s defeated pretty easily, but they do give you $10k if the truck is stolen and not recovered. I ended up paying extra for this because it was already installed and it takes a while to get all the other devices lined up.
- Croc Loc ECM lockbox from Andrizo Trucktoyz. This will make it hard for them to do an ECM swap out if the other devices fail.
- Catalytic Converter Shield from ADD Automotive. This will make it harder for them to steal the catalytic converter and the alarm should go off while they are trying.
- Wheel Locks. I just got the ones from GM. I don’t think these are really effective though, so I am looking at other options.
- Window Tint - Tint World. In addition to the benefits of tint, I figure this will also make it harder to see what’s inside.
- Hidden AirTags in accessible and inaccessible places to throw off the thieves. Also remove the speakers. You can find videos on YouTube to show you how to do it.
The Drone camera system only allows for 2 cameras and I think a dashcam needs a front a rear camera, so I don’t have the interior camera. Hopefully they come up with a way to add that later, otherwise, I am looking at options for an interior camera also. Lastly, I was looking for something to provide additional tailgate security, but I haven’t found anything yet.
I am always looking to stay ahead of these thieves so I will continue to add to this system as needed. Let me know if you have any questions about these options.
What I wonder is with all the surveillance cameras and the metro pd vehicle that is supposedly patrolling the parking structure, they didn’t get a picture or video of the chase vehicle? Either they don’t care or some employees are tipped to “look the other way”? Former is what I hope more than the latter.. sorry for your loss… I have USAA comprehensive so I’m not sure if I’ll get a good replacement cost (adjuster said cash offer value?) but online comps are between $45 and $55k for my year and mileage, so hopefully I’m not left with an empty potato sack. Only info I’ve received regarding my case came from a family friend in LE. Truck was spotted same day it was stolen one pic I assume from traffic camera… the idea that you can track a vehicle from cameras seems more lucky than standard.. I appreciate the tips on how to have redundancy.Sorry to hear that OP. The same thing happened to me in June last year with my 2021 CarbonPro 6.2L Sierra 1500 AT4 at the Grand Parkway Park & Ride. This will also disable remote start, right? I use that on hot or cold days to remote start AC.I picked this up:

NoStart Remote Controlled Intelligent Relay w/ Remote - Starter/Fuel Pump Immobilizer
Automotive Electronics Manufacture and Distributor of Audio, VIdeo and Wiring Accessorieswww.mobilistics.com
Its a Fuel Pump Relay Kill switch. No need to mess/tap into wiring harnesses like IGLA or Ravelco.
Yes, unless the relay remote will transmit as far as the FOB. It definitely won't transmit as far as the mygmc app. This will also disable remote start, right? I use that on hot or cold days to remote start AC.
Don't forget about the yellow/white wire on X7 plug of the bcm hack. Unless it's a truck during the pandemic that was built without the shift interlock chip.I think I'll have to invent something on my own from scratch as I did years ago.
