Fog lights or lack of light

All, installed and working. Take ls about a hour or two depending on your mechanical know how. I did not hook up the DRL for mine.

For tips,

A: the foxbeam mounts are brittle, and can brake easily if your not careful. B: Use hand tools for the install. C: Mount the Diode Dynamics lights to the foxbeam mounts, and snug down so you don't have any movement.

D: There is no instructions to show you what light goes on which side, so when removing the oem for lights, you can see how the oem mount is oriented in there, so when mounting the new ones.

E: When mounting the new light, make sure the lights electrical socket is at the bottom and not at the top. This will insure you have the correct light, and mount on the correct side.

F: To access the fog light mount, you will need to remove both under belly sides, and skid plate. Good luck, it wasnt to bad.

Thank you for all of that @Johnv76; now, how is the light output? Can you aim them up and down after install from the front like you can with the OEM units?

I havent tested the brightness of them yet as its still daytime out. I will get some pics tonight once the sun goes down to see how much better they are. I also have not tried to aim them yet, i would think the adjustments of them is the same as the OEM ones once they are installed. n I will update you with all my findings.

Update, you can not aim the new fog lights like the OEM ones. The mechanism used to aim the OEM lights is attached to the OEM light housings.

Do the new lights need aiming or is the beam pattern acceptable? I need to check your photos too.

Just checked your photo, I don't see a beam pattern cutoff.

From what i can tell, "only been 14 hours or so" there is significantly more throw on the beam. Its wider, and longer. "that's what she said". Before when turning on my fog lights I could hardly tell the difference when driving down the road. Now, when turning on my fog lights while driving there is a noticeable difference. The cutoff is difficult to see as my drive way is sloped downward going to the street, so it appears to throw light farther then it really does. On top of that, the camera makes it more difficult. I don't see any aiming being needed.

OEM, you can see the circled areas OEM vs Diode Dynamics

Well, after about a hour drive in the dark, i can confirm that these fog lights are a lot better, and throw a lot more light then the factory OEM fog lights. The OEM fog lights i couldn't even tell when they were on or off, with these you can really see the light.

Any issues with dirt and water getting in the gaps. I saw your pics and there looks to be gaps around the light vs OEM. I ordered them anyways because I figured why not but I was curious if you noticed any issues.

So the two circles are the two different lights? And you cannot get them to overlap because there is no aiming mechanism? Thanks for all of the info!

That was exactly my concern and the same issue exists with OEM lights, they are not flush with the openings either (see pics below).

I saw all of that, and am looking into a totally different solution to overcome these issues; have a powerful fog lamp installed in the same opening with a 'better than' OEM look, sealed with no gaps; it will take me time to design a flush mount with a perfect look considering I don't even have a metal welding shop. The purpose of replacing OEM corner fog lamps with something powerful and better is too improve the lousy job GMC did with their fog lamps. In actual fact, I don't need more fog lamps. I installed powerful Diode Dynamics SS3 SAE with Amber Backlight on the front AEV bumper, a challenge in itself, due to a winch being installed in the bumper. I am very pleased with final results and working on covering the slight gap towars the centers with a suitable rubber trim; these bumper fog lamps (not the OEM corner ones) are a perfect compliment to main headlamps, and light up the road and road edges in any weather.

Yes one is OEM fog lights, and the other is with the Diode Dynamics
