Fog lights or lack of light

I'm most likely in trouble now with flush mount fog lamps I ordered expected later today, they may or may not fit after the COMEUP winch was just installed; part of the space behind front bumper openings are now occupied by the winch motor. I may have to build a standoff to install flush mount lamps or reorder non flush mount 3"x3" lamps instead. TBD

Discouraging that AEV didn’t anticipate this.

Its thick hefty plastic approximately 4"W X 3 1/4"H hole, much larger than one in the rear bumper hence can likely fit a decent sized amber fog lamp.
Baja Designs are expensive however cheaper options are available elsewhere.
Found a pic somewhere where he used a 3x3" light, nice job although you can see theres a gap on one side. Where do we find a 4x3 perhaps none exist. I see lights are inset in the install below, I'd like to see them flush with the surround; it is possible the rear AEV brackets can also be improvised for the front. I'll check when I receive brackets I ordered for the rears.

When I spoke to AEV a couple weeks ago I was told they are working on a bar-solution for these bumpers to mount accessory lights. I had the impression the guy I spoke to was talking about a bull-bar type of solution, but that would put the lights too high up to be ideal for fog lights. The placement in this picture is much better, but it doesn’t work for those of us who installed the winch.

I think the GM fog lights are about as good as the Bose stereo :ROFLMAO: But the aftermarket will eventually come up with good solutions. (I’d duplicate the above picture if not for the winch.)

I'll figure something out. Just checked, theres just about enough space to fit a 3x3 light, perhaps shave off about an 1/8" on each outer end. I'm still going to try and check (once I receive them later today) if I can get the flush mounts to fit since that will negate a need to install a bracket inside. Any installation will have to wait until next week since we are away for the weekend.

For the rear bumper lights which I now have, I figured out where to take power off at the rear end. I have an option to wire it to reverse light (my putco 60" light is also installed just below the tailgate door and I can take power off that). Alternatively I can power it from my own wifi remote switch (not the Garmin Powerswitch) which has provision for two independent switched circuits I can see operate via Alexa integration. I've tried Alexa integration within my home network and the wifi switches work fine, I need to find time to check if it works in the truck which also has Alexa integration. I really wanted to install the rear lights today but work is getting in the way and also the only stupid thing my dealer did yesterday was to wash my beautifully polished black truck and its left a few water marks; I need to fully detail the paintwork this afternoon a two hour task at least. I'll work on all the lights, front and rear, hopefully on Monday.

Couldn’t you just switch the bulb on the fog lights to brighter ones?
OEM lights in the front are quite small and a brighter bulb will not cut it for me.

I'm installing high powered Amber fog lamps in front and rear; the rear ones besides being amber fog lamps will also optionally serve as work area lights to the rear.
The front ones are higher powered amber fog lamps and the type I selected will provide decent and wide road coverage during fog. We experience heavy fog while travelling across the border to Whistler BC in winter.

Yep I noticed... I installed a 20" bar where the Diesel intercooler goes, ditch lights, backup lights and also rock lights just because I could.

I was able to overcome the above hurdle and managed to install the left high powered amber fog light yesterday; wiring harness is routed from below the winch and still needs to be zip tied. I need to do the right fog light today; tie down the harness, wire the harness three way switch to trigger from my new wifi switch (not Garmin) which I can individually actrivate Fog Backlight and/or Fog Main lamps using Alexa commands or (yet to be configured) Infotainment Screen. I'm not cheap not using Garmin Powerswitch which I can very easily afford, I liked the challenge looking for an alternative to achieve the same result.

I'm not posting any photos until I finish the job but it is looking good (to me anyway).

I also have the rear fog lamps with AEV brackets, not yet installed since I decided to focus on more difficult front fog lamps; just my nature in first tackling harder tasks.

Okay, my GF picked up her new 2024 1500 AT4X AEV yesterday, so I am all over the lights and am following this thread closely. I ordered the rear AEV brackets yesterday. We have the winch on its way, so I’m anxious to look at the thread you started for your flushmounts. Btw, there is a site gen5diy.com; the owner will make any harness you need. He made me a reverse tap for the OEM plugs on our 2023 Yukon. He offers a “fogs light on with high beams” harness on the site that has an optional high beam tap. I will likely end up using a SwitchPros system to control. I plan on Rigid dual color DOT fogs (hoping to go in the space mentioned); reverse lights; winch control; some kind of high beams; and possibly an ARB compressor (I think that’s the 8 switches that the SwitchPros provides - btw I have a 2023 Jeep Wrangler JL-370 AEV edition with this system - I put it all in myself - it’s an awesome setup). Anyway, I look forwards to getting to know you guys. Thanks.

After seeing this thread, I put my fog lights on up against the garage door and they were pretty much aimed at the ground. Couple of turns with the allen wrench and they are now aimed about knee high. We’ll see if it makes much of a difference or not.

Also lowered my headlights after leveling my truck so I’m not that dick blinding everyone 👌🏽

What did you have to take off to get to the Allen screws? Thank you for letting us know it’s possible. Knee high sounds about right! Can’t wait to hear if they’re actually doing anything or not.

I didn't have to take anything off, the adjustment is on the back of the fog light assembly. It's the same allen wrench that you use to adjust the headlights. If I remember correctly, it was a 6 MM.

The adjustments did make a difference from how they were from the factory. That being said, it wasn't like a holy $hit difference, but I could tell there was more light shining down the road and in the ditches this morning.
