VLEDS reverse lights

I didn't need to install a relay kit or anything else on my 24. Just pop out one of the taillights (either one) and splice the 2 wires from the light bar into the taillight harness. It's really easy.
And you haven’t had any issues? The manufacturer said if I did it this way all of my trailering error codes would pop and my reverse camera would likely stay on when driving. Kind of scared me away from these lights.

I've only trailered once and I didn't have any issues. I could change it to any camera I wanted to, the side camera's would come on with the turn signals, everything worked as it should. If you want to be safe then I would get the harness or whatever they're telling you to, but I haven't had any issues.

Awesome, thank you for the info!

So I bought the light and the relay kit and figured screw it I’ll just have the dealer install it. Dealer called and said it’s all done and that I didn’t need the relay kit, they just tapped into the reverse circuit…. Now I’m even more confused.

Dealer is not always right. Many here have done the same, but the fact is, an additional load to an existing circuit, adds to the current draw of the circuit; it may be fine if its low power LEDs which I think your license plates lights may be. I'm not sure what the taillights fuse size is, others can chime in.

Having said that, dealer will usually do minimum work; my dealer installed Putco lights and I believe they hooked them to tail lights since it was plug and play harness, haven't had any issues. I later installed high power Baja Designs lights on rear bumper, I think they are 30W each, hence 60W total drawing 4-5amp total, which is significant, hence wired using an independently controlled relay switch powered off trailer wiring.

I had them install the relay stating the BCM concern that someone else posted on here. Thank you all! This light 100% fixed my rear night time camera issue. Holy smokes this thing is bright! So happy with it.

Here is the install instructions from Morimoto

I have a 24' 2500HD AT4 and my son just got a 25' 1500 AT4 and we both feel the same way about the reverse lights being very dim. I plan to get the Vled or Morimoto tag light for both. How many have them wired to the tail light circuit with not issues?

I spliced them into the taillight wires and haven't had any issues.

Mine are spliced into the reverse light circuit. 100% fixed the crappy backup camera image.

Anyone compare the Morimoto Vs Vled back to back to see which is brighter?
