New 2023 AT4X let the mods begin!

I forgot to mention, in that 85mph clip I was going into a 15-20 mph head wind, one thing of note I think that was adding more wind noise then exhaust. Two, that speed with this trucks height, heavy 10 ply tires, and lack of the traditional or normal Sierra‘s front facia aero aids, was all contributing the low mpg’s seen on the screen.
The 75 mph clip was in more of a cross wind east west portion of the trip. The wind was out of the south and the first part I was driving straight into it.

I took slower back roads and 2 lane highways on my return trip to get those slower speed sound clips, and that in conjunction with a 10 mph or so tail wind in the late afternoon, I had manage to redeem the overal trip mpg up to 16.4 mpg over the whole 4 hours of down and back mixed speed and environments of yesterday’s road tripping.

Less than a grand is a heck of deal on ceramic coatings . It’s more in the 1800-2400 range around here. That does include paint correction ahead of the ceramic coating. Still not really worth it to me on a white truck . I hear it’s good stuff .
So I just got the bill from the guy and he is charging me $650 total. He normally charges $650 without coating the wheels. Since he coated the wheels and I supplied my own coating he only charged me $650 so naturally I am giving him a check for $700 :). He is a good guy and he deserves it.

If my truck is as good as I think it is I will have him redo my wife's traverse. That is also if I like the product.

Saturday night after I got back from my road trip, a buddy called and had run into one of our friends neither of us had seen in years.
Turns out he had a new to him 2018 GMC 1500 SLE and was looking to upgrade tires and wheels on it.
So they came over and I was able to sell him my grey set of Fuel Coverts with the Recon 305/60R18, that set I had originally put on my 2023.
We got them in stalled for him out my shop Saturday night. They really looked great on his truck. He was supper happy with them. To all of our surprise his truck cleared them, I really thought it would have rubbed.

That’s awesome

All this is why I only want to do a muffler swap - plus of course the price difference between muffler swap and full catback system.

I look forward to your interstate drone/no drone experience. I leave either the 17th or 18th for a 1000 mile trip out of state again to do another job. Don't want a droning muffler in my cab on a 1000 mile trip, lol. I probably don't have time to get a swap done next week anyway before I leave. Have a full slate of jobs to complete here yet next week, so will need the truck for work every day and little to no downtime to be at a muffler shop.
Factory option catback exhaust cold start. My favorite option on my 19 at4 and my new 22 at4x

Do you have the Borla catback exhaust? Or just stock exhaust?

Post some before and after sound clips/vids if you get a chance. Would like to see how the Corsa crate muffler sounds compared to stock.

Thanks!
Dealer installed optional catback exhaust. It is loud as hell on a cold start for the first few seconds for sure. Also had the dealer installed on my 19 at4. This one seems a little louder. Love it and will never have stock exhaust on my truck again

Nice !!!
Thanks for the tip.
I hate having to pull the dash apart to install it, but at this point, I hate the start stop crap even more. I am going to look for some how to videos for the 22-23 refreshed models.
just finished with the 22.5 or 22 refreshed autostop eliminator installation on my AT4X. you are correct there is substantial dash removal. I got the installation instructions from TRL automotive (the maker of the autostop eliminator connector). The one for the 22 refreshed is part number AE039. you will need the plastic flat bladed trim removal tool. the fit is too tight in a few placed to use the trusty screw driver without noticeable damage I believe. start with removing the trim on the passenger side of the center console then the fuse panel cover on the passenger side then the remaining piece to the radio control panel, then the radio control panel which is everything from the center stack switches up. you will need to use the Instrument panel center accessory function switch replacement guide which the TRL folks will provide. I also have it now and will be glad to provide as well ([email protected]). I also printed the out the whole nine yards and would be glad to mail it to you if desired just contact me...took about 15 pages including some real handy pictures of the released radio control panel. the pictures will make you feel a little better about pulling out the releases on them radio control panel. a couple of lessons learned. first the 8 small bolts that you will need to remove are 7 MM heads. second removing the connector is no small task given the amount of room you will have after pulling the radio control panel out of the dash. all of about three inches unless you want to disconnect the whole thing. I did not have courage to venture that far. you must pull the red connector lock up fully so u can depress the plastic lock latch to pull the connector free. took me longer to get the connector loose than to remove the trim. BTW it all snapped back together easily, any questions let me know. Took me about an hour but a substantial part of that time was figuring out the connector. hopes this helps. TD

Great looking truck man, thanks for all the posts/links and info on the muffler swap. I have the same truck in black and think I'm going with the Borla ATAK because that's in stock locally and I'm impatient. Curious, was there 2 flapper valves and you had them delete both when installing the muffler? Or one comes off regardless and you had to tell them to remove the other?

My 2022 AT4X Mods:

Amp Research: “Extream Steps” (dual motors on each step.)
Retrax Pro: Roll Up Bed cover
Baja Design: 20” LED Light Bar with daytime running lights
GMC: Illuminated Grill Logo

I like the bar. My son's truck has a bar in that location and I just added a 20" ONX6. I'm insanely impressed with the lights and already have S1s on order for reverse lights. It is a good looking truck.

I did shoot a few short video/ sound clips from todays road trip . Trying to capture interior audio of the Corsa muffler swap exhaust in various throttle , speed , manual gear changes .

Sounds great! I did a muffler delete and the drone is bad. Definitely getting this Corsa. Thanks for these inside the cab videos. Really helps out

If there is second one under there, I think it might still be there.
When in regular D not L9, meaning AFM is on, decelerating the truck can at times go totally silent.
So, makes me think there is still another one of those valves in the system somewhere.
The one at the neck of the muffler is gone now. Not sure about the location of the second one.

Thanks for the great how to write up.

After getting my exhaust installed, and living with it a month or so, I find I am always using L9 to bypass the start stop and AFM effects.

I think for me I am going to keep using the L9 trick till the new OBD2 plug in style comes out, that is supposed to shut down the AFM and the start stop simply plugging it into the OBD2 port, which is now my overall goal, that is to shut both those features off.
I had that OBD2 port device on my 2021 Diesel AT4 for shutting off the start stop, worked great. Only if the low fuel light came on it would overide and go back to starting and stopping.
