What's new

Mild build 24 AT4X

I haven’t gotten my bumper yet but I started by mounting the control box for the winch. Turned out super clean I think.
Since I need to make new cables from the control box to the winch, I decided to upgrade to oxygen free, pure copper 2 gauge wire(it came with 4 gauge and it felt light) and high amp lugs. I hope it makes a difference, that stuff ain’t cheap. In the pic I’ve only done the main power wire from the battery to the control box. I will wait until I have the bumper so I don’t make them any longer(or shorter) than necessary. I’m also waiting for color coded heat shrink since all the wires will be black.

Maybe i missed it but you went with Warn over the Superwinch? Any reason or just preference?

Ah lol. Yes I did make a switch. Good catch. I wanted an integrated wireless remote and also I just didn’t care for how synthetic line was secured to the drum. I had a buddy that needed a winch for his gooseneck trailer so I put the steel cable back on it and sold it to him.

I noticed when I was up under the front yesterday that I’ve already managed to cave in the skid plate under the motor. It might be time for the upgraded boron steel plates from AEV.

AEV don't make a rear diff plate for our HD's. Yet. ☹️
Apparently our rear diffs are so strong, they don't need one. This is from AEV "The rear differential on these trucks is so massive, they don’t need additional protection. Additionally, the rear differential cover on these trucks does not extend to the edges of the differential housing, reducing the risk of damage."

Well it’s not really to protect the pumpkin. It’s more for protecting the pinion flange and u joint yolks and providing a smooth surface to slide on

You get your front bumper yet?
Nope.😔 They emailed me on Tuesday, said it was going to powder coat on Wednesday and would ship Thursday. I got another email Thursday with UPS tracking number but as of right now(9am Monday) the UPS app says they dont have possession of it yet.

At the very least you have a tracking number and know it should be shipped out this week.

Tomorrow is day 100 since ordering. Im a pretty understanding person and I’m patient for the most part but I really can stand being lied to. They originally told me 4-5 weeks, that’s 28-35 days.
