Mild build 24 AT4X

I am wanting to do a winch set up as well. The AEV bumper has the cutouts and mounts for the fairlead. But no mounting plate. I'm wondering what else I would need.

*Update* So if you have the AEV bumper the winch bolts directly to the back of the bumper. No plate needed.

How thick is the AEV bumper?

Is there a ⅜" plate welded to the bumper all the way to the frame mounts?

I don't see how a ⅛" thick bumper will take 12 ton of force. Let alone a double or triple line rig.

Inquiring minds want to know! 😁

ETA...check that 12 ton. 12000 lbs, sorry bout that.

From everything I have researched, the winch mounting plate is required for the winch install for the AEV bumpers for the 1500 and 2500 trucks.

Hello,

If you have the AEV Bumper as I do, then a winch install is not as easy as with other bumpers. The bumper has to be removed, and you will need the AEV winch mount kit which costs about 500 bucks, regardless of the winch.

That said, the only winch AEV says Will work is the Comup winch that General Motors offers through the accessory.

There is a video from some customizing guys in Alaska that mount a Warn Zeon winch. The only thing is that to mount that winch they had to cut some places so the winch would fit, or they had to cut into the winch. These guys cut a notch into the skid plate and cut a couple places on the truck behind the bumper. Here is that video.

I had mine installed at the dealer and its perfect although have yet to put it through a real test; may have to wait until Jan when it snows, to help pull a vehicle out of a ditch or something.

You had to get the come-up 9.5 winch if you had the dealer do it...My dealer really didn't want to mess with it...but I am also looking to go 10 or 12k at least...these trucks weigh a lot, mine is the diesel, weighs almost 6k. Even with a snatch block or winch ring, that is a decent amount of weight.

I have no idea how dealers install winches, but I would reel out all the rope, tie off to a tree, tractor, something that won't move, on grass, dirt, gravel, etc and set the parking brake and pull in the rope under pressure before first use.

Not sure why, but it states this kit does not fit the 2024 Canyon AT4X AEV model.

Those part numbers are for Sierra 2500HD winches.

Noticed the Winch is included in the build option labeled Recovery Package for the Canyon. It includes the Winch and Off-Road Recovery Kit. It is also available as an Accessory.

On the Sierra, the winch is a build option (as is the required installation kit) or available as an Accessory.

Try 19435837 for the winch for the Canyon with AEV bumper. The GMC Accessory site states "requires the Accessory Auxiliary Control Switches". That part number appears to be 84938259. You may or may not need that per the install instructions.

Well, 589Fab has promised it will be ready to ship any day now so I’ve started to cut away some plastic. FINALLY! I’ve really tried to be patient but it’s been nearly 4 months and 13,000 miles since ordering and paying in full. I was told mine will be the first in the country to ship besides the prototype that went on the overland expo rig.
I will update and do some install posts here if anyone is interested.

I’m going to probably sell the factory fog lamps and factory painted silver chin plastic if anyone is interested, PM me

Rear shock skid plates from 589. Very high quality. I would recommend for those running the very expensive DSSV Multimatic shocks.
Installed both in 30 minutes.
I think I will also get the diff/pinion flange skid plate from AEV.
