Hello everyone, I’m Erik, currently living in southern Louisiana, and Eastern Iowa but I call New Mexico home.
The day I brought it home. A couple weeks later I drove it partly across the country, NM to Louisiana.

New wheels and tires and GMC steps and hood decals.

Ordered a winch bumper from 589 Fabrication(6 week build time), Super Winch SX10SR, Reno billet aluminum shackles and winch hook.
I haven’t settled on lights yet. 589Fab says it’s designed for 2 Baja Designs LP6’s and 2 LP4’s. I just don’t know if I want to spend as much on 4 lights as the combined costs of the bumper and winch. I will probably go with a cheaper option.

So I couldn’t find an install video for the 589Fab winch bumper on a GMC Canyon and it doesn’t appear there is one in the wild yet besides the overland expo rig.
Should I start a separate thread or just post on this one?

I haven’t gotten my bumper yet but I started by mounting the control box for the winch. Turned out super clean I think.
Since I need to make new cables from the control box to the winch, I decided to upgrade to oxygen free, pure copper 2 gauge wire(it came with 4 gauge and it felt light) and high amp lugs. I hope it makes a difference, that stuff ain’t cheap. In the pic I’ve only done the main power wire from the battery to the control box. I will wait until I have the bumper so I don’t make them any longer(or shorter) than necessary. I’m also waiting for color coded heat shrink since all the wires will be black.

So, I just wanted to give an update in case anyone was waiting for one. I’m still waiting for my winch bumper from 589Fab. I’m not real happy about that because there are several times already that I could have used it. I was initially told 5 or 6 weeks and here we are in the 11th week since ordering.
I’m not wanting to badmouth 589Fab but buyer beware. We don’t own Jeeps so there isn’t 50 different companies making aftermarket winch bumpers, our options are limited.
I know, 1st world problems right? However I do feel that expecting full payment for something that hasn’t even been built is . It’s too late for me to even dispute the charges on my credit card if it was to come to that.
I’m told that it will ship by the end of the month. I certainly hope so.

This has been my experience with almost every specialty 4x4 fabricator. It’s like waiting on promised software…

When a business is more than a month past promised delivery date I ask for my money back or a damn good explanation and expedited delivery.

I am wanting to do a winch set up as well. The AEV bumper has the cutouts and mounts for the fairlead. But no mounting plate. I'm wondering what else I would need.

*Update* So if you have the AEV bumper the winch bolts directly to the back of the bumper. No plate needed.
