Decided on the GM Kicker sub

I just received my kicker sub last Friday. It is new and the new units have the sub control jack. I purchased the controller separately. I also replaced all the bose speakers with premium kicker speaker made for GM and HUGE difference in sound. Yes there is a break in period too.

Kicker speakers u say? Made by GM? Where do they sell them? GM accessories book?

Congrats!, you did good. I know your sub is new but it's a unit that was still in dealer stock. Any sub kit being produced now from Stillwater designs, part 19417164, are being made without sub jacks. It'll be hit or miss depending who still has some units.
I'm also interested in the speakers you purchased.

KSC6904 6"x9
KSC6704 6 3/4
Pair of inline frequency filters (300 Hz cut-off)
Kenwood Excelon KFC-X2c( I used these on my 2016, plug in play)

Gmpartsdirect for sub 2019-2024 Silverado & Sierra NEW OEM GM Kicker 200-Watt Subwoofer Kit 19417164 purchase 4/1

I was impressed with these(door)speakers because they came with exact hardware for my truck. Crutchfield sent their adapter stuff but it was not necessary. I used a different tweeter set up I found from a guy on line but you had to modify them.
These compliment the sub perfectly. These are FOR GM and others NOT made by them.

Great to know. Thanks for the info!

Here is a picture of control knob mount. I used 3M tape to mount it. Go with the higher end KS speakers or above CS are nice but quality IMO is better in their higher end product

I like the flexibility of controlling my bass via knob and not going through the stereo. Its much easier. You also need to push all the switches on back of amp to max if using the knob. To answer more directly NO you do not need the knob. I would leave the dip switches to factory if running as intended. You will control the amp through its EQ settings. As for now ,today, its sounds great. I expect it to get better as it breaks in. The one wild card is longevity. I do not know if maxing out dips and being able to control bass to max will have negative impact on woofer. I have been thinking if kicker would give you the ability to use a sub knob with the possibility of blowing it or if they thought of this ahead as they have the option but no directions that I can find.
