Dealer Update on 6.2L recall service

This past Monday, I finally received the second recall letter that instructed me to schedule the engine inspection. I received the first letter that said my truck was part of the recall back in June. The truck goes to the dealership on Nov 10th. Fingers crossed.

Had the recall test completed on 10/29 and everything passed. They changed the oil to the new 0w-40. My engine was built the last month of the recall period.

I was also having some error messages that turned out to be a bad battery. Service transmission, service ESC, etc.

23k miles in so the battery was replaced under warranty. Now add on the 10 years and 150k miles on the engine warranty.

The “inspection” is a scam, the “fix” is an insult to one’s intelligence, and the new “extended warranty” is worthless.

Just want to make sure you're aware that the extended engine warranty is only for this specific recall issue. Any other part of the engine that has issues still falls under the 5 year 60k mile regular warranty. I was confused at first until I re-read the letter that GM sent me.

Yes. the extended warranty is just covering the recall issues. Standard warranty applies to the other engine components. 5 Yr. 60k mile.

Engine passed inspection.
Inspection is not a scam. Cylinder compression is verified and bore scope inspection used to check for damage before approving engine replacement vs heavy oil for film strength protection upgrade.

Extended warranty is on the crankshaft. If that fails it’s game over on that engine. Well that’s a new crate motor from where I sit. Everything attached to your current failed engine will be transferred over but they will do a new water pump. That was straight up information from a service manager I trust where my truck was purchased. I am ok with their warranty offering on this issue. I believe it’s more than fair.

I understand the warranty follows the vehicle not the original owner so yes that’s fair, all makes have their problems. Anybody that is that dissatisfied with GM should trade. I understand Ford is giving all new owners a puppy with a purchase of a new vehicle, so when it breaks down you will have somebody to keep you company till the tow truck gets there!

Truck passed the inspection today. At one point, the Service Advisor sent me a msg that said: "...We have been trying to do the picoscope and every time we try it keeps telling us incomplete reading and to start over...". He also said they have seen this on multiple vehicles. Anyone else have that experience?
