Carbyte (DFM disabler for 2024) limited giveaway

Thank you for the feedback! I'll discuss the light operation with our engineers and get back to you.

We appreciate your interest! Carbyte is compatible with 10-speed transmissions.

Unfortunately, you do not qualify for the offer because the date of your registration on the forum was after the date of the post, but please let us know if you have any other questions.

With that in mind, there's one more unit available. It can be claimed if the date of your registration on this forum is before October 24, 2025 and you qualify based on the other criteria noted in the original post.
I just bought one we will see how it works out . I’ll post when I know .

First and foremost, thank you to Carbyte for the opportunity to test this product. A couple of notes about my set-up: 1. I have the Auto Stop Eliminator installed on my truck, so I will not be able to review the auto stop disable for this product. 2. I have my dash cams powered through my OBD. The power harness for my dash cams has an alternate OBD that I plugged this device into. 3. I have Borla Touring cat back exhaust installed.

Received the product this morning and went out and drove around for about an hour or so. Here are my initial thoughts:

Packaging
  • Very nice packaging. Quality packaging matters to me when I spend money on something.
  • First thing I see when I opened it up - 3 year warranty and 180 day money back guarantee if you have anything less than a 5 star opinion of the product.
Installation
  • Very easy to follow instructions
  • No issue from plugging the device into my "alternate" OBD (see notes above about powering dash cams from original OBD)
  • Plugged in the device and started truck. Waited for about 5 minutes, but I never got the slow blinking light from the "Status" light on the device. Shut the truck down, unplugged the device, reinstalled and started truck again. Got the slow blink from the "Status" light quickly this time.
  • Connected the device with the bluetooth option to the app on my iPhone. I did get a message within the app saying "This vehicle is not compatible with Carbyte AFM and autostart/stop disable. This message was before I got the slow blinking status light (maybe the device hadn't fully synced yet?)
  • After I shut the truck down, unplugged device and reinstalled and got slow blinking status light, I did not get the message again.
  • Had some concern about the possibility of the device switching the auto stop back on since I have the Auto Stop Eliminator installed. No issues at all.
Driving

  • Drove on interstate and some in town conditions.
  • Really felt like I could hear my exhaust keep the constant low rumble and not go into the "helicopter" sound when going down to 4 cylinders.
  • Throttle response was really nice especially when accelerating from a cruising speed on the interstate. Felt instant response.
  • When going into a complete stop, felt a notable harder downshift right before completing the stop (maybe from gear 2 to 1?)
  • Wanted to see if I was just being hyper-aware of the hard downshift, so I stopped halfway on my drive, turned truck off, and uninstalled device. Performed several complete stops and it really seems the hard downshift was gone without the device installed.
App
  • No issues getting the device to connect
  • Really like the ability to disable the splash screen at the start-up of the app within settings. Cool splash screen, but didn't like it if I opened the app while I had any audio playing because it would stop the audio for the splash screen.
  • Straight forward on the app.
  • Liked that I have the ability to turn functions off/on in the app (DFM and Auto Stop).
  • Was not able to figure how to monitor parameters within the app.
I will continue using and provide some further feedback after spending more time. Only negatives I have so far are:
  • Feels like there is a hard downshift when coming to a complete stop.
  • Wanted to see the parameter monitoring within the app

Man looks like I missed the boat! Would love to try this out! Being able to disable the start stop is awesome! Also the obd capabilities.

I received the package today (technically yesterday - saturday). Had a very busy day and couldn't really test it. I did plug it in as directed and waited for the slow blink. After 5 minutes I did not notice a difference in blink speed, so shut off the truck and tried again. Maybe the fast blink ended so quickly that I didn't notice and it was actually slow blinking.

In any case, I had the app already installed and it took only a few seconds for them to pair. In the app of course I turned off AFM and auto stop/start. I also scanned for codes (after I turned off the truck) and no codes came up. Not sure if there is more functionality to the code reading part or not that I am not aware of.

Since I was very busy today (kid duty etc) I only had time to take a quick couple mile drive with it, and not at hwy speeds. Everything seemed to work properly, however I will need to drive extensively with it tomorrow to know more.

I expect it will work as intended, and must say that I think it was less than 24 hrs from when I posted here on friday in this thread, to when I received the product - amazing turn around time!

I will post more tomorrow evening after I get miles under the wheels using it. Thank you Carbyte for everything - this is how a professional company does great business!

Welcome.

Post pictures when you are free.
Here are a few! Truck is brand new so I'll post more when I start getting her outfitted!

I've done some more looking at the options for the Auto Start/Stop "delete". Is the Carbyte compatible with the 3.0 Duramax? If not is this something you all are working on?

Worked today so got the chance to drive my truck a bit more. I drove hwy and in town through multiple stop lights.

My impressions are very good. AFM is off for sure, a bit better throttle response. Shifting may seem a bit stiffer - but maybe that is just because I saw someone post something similar in this thread so I was looking for it. But there is a definite improvement in throttle response.

Auto stop/start is also disabled. I did NOT have to hit the piano key to turn it off, the light on that piano key is still lit, yet at all stoplights I was at (probably 8 to 10 of them today), auto stop/start did not shut off the truck.

I didn't have a chance to dig further into the code scan part. From what I can see in the phone app (android - Galaxy S24U) - it will scan for error codes, and show those codes in the phone app if there are any. If there is more functionality to the code reading/diagnostics, I would like to know. I need to watch the video that Carbyte posted in this thread in their first post (will do that now), maybe that info is in the video.

Overall, I am VERY impressed with this product. I was seriously thinking about buying this product anyway, but when I saw this thread originally and got in as one of the first 5 to respond, I was pumped. The fact that I had the product in my hands less than 24 hours after PMing my info to Carbyte is incredible.

I will also add - the product was very well packaged - similar quality to how a premium smart phone would be boxed/packaged. No cheap stuff going on here. The instructions were very simple, but they also seem to be all that was needed to plug the product in, let it sync with my truck, then open my phone app and in seconds the product was connect to my phone.

All in all - I am very happy, and would have been very happy if I had had to buy this product. This is high quality and from a company that has shown it is high quality from their guarantee, to their quick service and turn around.

A+ in all ways for me.

If I have more to add as I drive my truck more, I will post that info in this thread. Thanks a ton Carbyte!

Searching for a DFM disable last night. Found another company claiming to be first to market. Let me know if you have a solution for a 2024 Sierra with a 6.3 V8. I changed my mind and traded up to a full size from the AT4. (Not ghosting this group but had not quit the group and received your challenge blog and thought it was worth a try.)

Thank you Carbyte for allowing me to test this new device for you.

Received the device, fantastic shipping, and excellent packaging. Like stated above, packaging, feel, and presentation is a big deal to your consumers. This meets all of the above. Packaging feels good, and good quality. The device itself feels good and appears to be good quality also. Directions are straight forward. I do wish there was a bit more information about the OBD and link status lights. What are their purposes, and what do they mean? The QR code is only for IPhones "Apple", so another QR code for Android users would be helpful also. Other then the few nit picks the direction are straight forward and easy to follow.

Installation:
Installation was easy, plugged the device in, and waited for the status link to blink slowly. Only took mine about a minute.

Driving:
Driving was fantastic. no need to go through my daily turning off the auto start/stop, putting the truck in L9 to disabled DFM. Throttle response was about normal, maybe a bit better. While driving for about an hour through town, auto start/stop never kicked in. DFM was also non existent, and never noticed it kicking in. Works as advertised, with no issues.

Final Thoughts:
Awesome product, easy install, and quality product. Making driving these trucks much easier without having to act like a fighter jet pilot for the first 4 mins clicking buttons, flipping switches, and making sure all of your setting are correct before pulling out of your driveway lol. Additional question, does this device effect the manufacturer warranty? Does it leave any trace on the truck that the dealership can scan and see that this device was installed? Only gripes i had were the few listed above with needing additional information on the OBD and link status lights, and the android QR code. I will be further testing, and updating everyone here in the next few weeks with my thoughts, and experience with this Carbyte device.

I would love to try this if there’s one left! I’m in Phoenix and can pick up if not maybe a discount code for forum members? Thanks in advance and thanks for thinking of us!

Good write up. Follows my experiences so far.

So are you saying that the iphone app has more code reading/diagnostics than the Android app? If so, I hope that gets fixed.

No the QR code in the directions is just for IPhones, and not android. Was suggesting to add another QR code for Android users is all.
