Why did you pick the 6.2?

When i decided to go for an AT4 a month ago , I had 2 things that i wanted .one was the 6.2 as i have one in my camaro and the long box .. due to the lack of inventory and not wanting to wait for an order . no long boxes available everyone i found was sold . In fact prefer a 8 ft box even though i know it not available . Not worried about mileage as i have a company pickup and my wife does not work . She uses the truck in the winter . I wanted the power as i will be using it to tow my camaro and depending on the 2023 2500 refresh we might trade it in then . Time will tell .
Yes, the Short bed/ box is a killer! Basically a grocery getter 🤣

The LZ0 is not considered a new motor. It’s more of an improvement on the basic underlying 3.0L D-Max architecture. Basically, upgraded steel pistons, revised combustion bowl, and a retuned turbo charger compressor, along with new fuel injectors and improved temperature control do not make for an entirely from-the-ground-up rebuild of the 3 L Duramax.

You (those who posted your mpg) are getting far better mileage than I am. I just bought my AT4--only about 1k miles on it so far. Averaging about 12 mpg in town, driving slow like a granny. I never expected a 6.2 to get great mileage per gallon, but it doesn't seem right. Any thoughts or advice?
Something seems amiss about this mileage. I purchased mine me , a 2020 with 6.2, in Oct 2019. From the start I averaged 16.5- 17. And I checked it the old fashioned way, keeping track of miles driven and dividing gallons into it at every gas stop. I get 18 .5 mpg on trips involving interstate speeds at 75-80 mph. I live on a barrier island on the the coast of NC, and the speed limit is 35 mph, long road, only a few stoplights. I show anywhere from 22 to as high as 30 mpg on fuel meter when driving around town. Best ever recorded on one tank, all driving in speed limits of 35-45 mph, was 27.2.
Ironically I checked the fuel consumption the computer displays and it’s only 0.2 off from my manual calculations. Pretty impressive.
You may want you dealer to check the computer for the DFM ( Digital Fuel Management)It may not be working properly. You should be getting far better mileage. I can detect mine running off less cycle feed when driving 35. It’s hardly noticeable when it diverts to a different run mode cylinder usage wise. But I can feel it if I’m paying attention and I can detect it on the tach. I run mostly 87 octane fuel as well. I alternate between that and 93 octane. Have never been able to detect the difference. Just installed BFGK02 , stock size, and it will light these tires up from a dead start.
Are you running larger tires? If so, that could be your issue as well. I stay with stock size because thats where the hp/torque is matched throughout the range. If you go with larger tires, you’ll suffer mileage decrease. You have to offset that by changing your differential gearing to get the performance back to engineered specs. My stick diff ratio is 3.23. Good luck

I picked the 6.2 cause that is all they put in a 2022 AT4x. Have had a few previous 6.2’s did great! As for mileage well- it is F to E, stop back to F. 4x4 with mudders, did not buy it for mileage. Just my 2 cents LOL

I come from 5.7 hemi witch is very strong and smooth engine ,so I was not gonna go backward and get 5.3 so I choose the 6.2, I do miss the ram tho, way better interior quality and infotainment system.....

I needed a hybrid. Work truck that could also double as a vacation vehicle. Aside from giving up gas mileage to my car it’s been perfect. Initially was going to get a 3/4 ton, but didn’t want the harsh ride. Once I drove the 6.2 (2022 AT) I was sold. Very comfortable with most of the options I wanted, and hauls my 50hp Kubota on an 18’ equipment trailer with ease. Walks right out of the fields at the farm also. I’ve taken the family to the beach 2x and mileage is around 18 on trips. Around town 14 in the hills of western PA and about 12 when towing.

I’ve been seeing the video’s on YouTube where they compare GM vs Ford vs Ram vs Tundra. I don’t know if they are FOS but I simply can not see the smaller displacement turbo motors being able to out perform the 6.2’s it’s a dadgum V-8 with a whole lot of torque Dadgumit. 😜

My AT4 6.2 has not arrived yet. However, I have been driving a 19' f250 6.2L gas for 120K miles.
It has good power but is a beast on long treks. Get 14-15 avg gas mileage with no load or tow.

If the GM 6.2L is as good as it sounds coupled with the reduced weight, it should be a hoot!!

So far that is about what I have gotten on my new 2023 AT4X 6.2 for mileage. I personally have never notice an "after break in" mileage boost in any vehicle. I knew the 6.2 would not be easy on gas, my 3.0 2020 AT4 diesel was 5 to 7 mpg better on mileage. But also diesel is more expensive than gas to the point where it is still cheaper by a bit to drive the gas vs diesel.

My main gripe with the 6.2 AT4X is the 24 gallon tank. When you are getting maybe 15 mpg going down the interstate, that means every 350 miles (could maybe stretch it to 375) you have to fill up. This truck needs a 28 gallon tank at the smallest.

I got almost 600 miles on a 24 gallon tank of diesel once in my 3.0 AT4. Getting 500 miles on a tank was not unheard of. I did have the front leveled, had bigger tires and wheels, and a bug deflector on the truck, which all cut down on mileage of course.

Driving the 6.2 has been fun, although I have had it a little over 2 weeks, we just spent a week down in the lower Florida Keys, so my truck has been sitting this whole time. I have 1500 miles on it, but they are almost all hwy/interstate miles (1000 mile trip from Nebraska, where I got the truck, back to MT, then 4 days later an almost 400 mile trip from Montana to Salt Lake city to fly out from SLC to the Keys). So 98% of my miles have been hwy. My wife babies her 2020 AT4 3.0, and almost always makes me take my truck for longer distance trips.... because she doesn't want to put the miles on hers, wants me to rack up the miles on mine, lol. Thanks, babe!

Anyway, I plan on doing the S&B cold air intake, and it seems that helps MPG a bit. But I also will be putting on 18x9 wider offset wheels, 285/70 R18 Nitto RG's, and doing a front end level (rough country) so that will cut into mileage some. You don't buy a 6.2 ltr gas truck and expect to get good mileage of course, so it is what it is.

To answer your question without a bunch of redirects- there is no comparison between the two! They both have two different jobs! The 250 6.2 does well no doubt but it is made to pull. The at4 6.2 is made for , well…Fun.

I’m interested in your 250 please hit me up.
