Sideview Camera While Under Tow

its not the front camera that controls this...but the side cameras on the mirrors. Looks like it can be added but from the factory, its certainly the HD surround vision option that i posted

Thanks for all the info. I do HD surround vision, the 2 cameras I do not have are the front cam and bed cam. I have the tailgate cam and mirror cams. I can manually out the cams on the shoot down the side of the truck but they do not come on when trailering and turning. My display also says the same thing with the trailer is plugged in, but still no side cams! 🤪

Dealer told me to find a vin that had it and they would compare to mine. Where in the world would I find a VIN that has it? Maybe on here if anyone is willing to share their VIN so I can compare?

No idea but the intellihaul system posted above would be close to the factory system.

That being said most anything is possible given enough time, money, and resources.
According to their website, that intellihaul 2.0 system only fits Silverado 1500 trucks and Silverado and Sierra HD trucks. I guess Sierra 1500's are left out.

[Edit] found a video how to modify Sierra mirrors to work with the Intellihaul. Looks like a lot of cutting on the mirror housing.

OK, finally have some answers on this...

First off thanks to @Ohiost90 for sharing your info to compare features. Turns out that in order to have the sideview cams come on during trailering/turning you need the Surround Vision, I apparently do not have surround vision, even though I have all the equipment, the surround vision is the package that enables the sideview cameras while under tow. 🤷‍♂️

@Blade's AT4 glad you got it straighten out, sorry you don't have it. chevy/gm is does a terrible job in their build sheet descriptions when it comes to these camera systems. I remember a couple of years ago when all the camera tech was added and I was speaking to a salesman what had to be ordered to get the various features. He took about 20 minutes to go over the marketing materials he had and I still think he had it wrong. He certainly confused both of us.

The Side View when turning with trailer hitched and connected properly , including the optional rear view camera installed per the very detailed instructions , plus a tow vehicle with the requisite towing package will ,not only provide the side view with turn signal activation, but will also provide a side view anytime the angle between the TV and the Trailer exceeds approx. 25 degrees, turn signal or not (really great when your backing into a drive with tight curbs ) . A bonus, perhaps , is the red zone alert overlaid on the side view when an overtaking vehicle is along side the trailer.

In the refreshed interiors, is the side view while towing supposed to take up the whole screen or just the side screen? I swear the first time I used it the side view only populated the side screen where the trailer info was displayed. The most recent time it was over the entire infotainment display. Am I imagining things? The larger size of the full infortainment screen makes the side view really grainy.

Last season was the first and so far the only time I have had the chance to use it. As I recall the system worked best when in full screen rear view and allowed to automatically shift to side view when the proper conditions were met. That split the screen to side on the right and rear on the left. It then went back to full screen rear view

My side view cuts on when I turn on the blinker and hauling a trailer. It's nice when making a tight turn. Not sure how to turn it on or off, just comes on with blinker.

Welcome.

I don't believe there is a way to turn off that camera view, while something is plugged into the 7way.
