Reverse Lights

I just got my truck back from the dealer, they installed my Putco 60” light bar (purchased thru GMC.com) and I’m very very disappointed It added almost zero additional light. I actually had to get out of my truck while in reverse to make sure the thing was even on. I’ll supply some pictures tomorrow evening but I’m not very happy.

Make sure it's installed properly and should be clearly visible below the tailgate; my dealer had to reinstall it to get it right.

Thanks that was my first thought too, I’m going to call the dealer Monday AM. I was really disappointed
Should be clear

I also have one of those light bars and they do put out some decent light, but because they are so far recessed behind the bumper the light pattern is really narrow. The bumper basically blocks almost all of the light that would hit the ground. 3’-6’ above the ground and that sucker is bright! But at ground level it’s disappointing.

To solve that I added some Pod Holes lights and they are bad ass ☀️😎

I feel you may also need to add additional reverse lighting if its still too dark; different folk have resorted to different solutions. It was an easy choice with my AEV since it allowed me to install rear fogs using AEV brackets; they light up the rear like daylight; these are not linked to reverse light switch and instead are managed by my own independent control circuit.

Is that picture the reverse camera on the info center?

No that was a physical photo. I’ll have to take one off the info centre if I remember tonight.
As I’m getting older (I am old) with a cataract I can’t do anything about and with only one fully functional eye, I need more light anyways to see things better to do all the things that need brilliant eyesight, particularly any precision work.

Here’s a pic I just took with reverse camera view on infotainment screen with Baja Designs fog lights on rear bumper turned on. I think they are quite bright and perfect for reversing into really dark areas.

My truck is heading back to the dealer Thursday for them to reinstall the light bar hopefully it can be raised about 1/4 then I think it will increase the available light. Right now about 2/3rds of the light is blocked by the bumper.

That will help for sure

Tail lights that are LED are a sealed unit.

I did the C1R light mod from Diode Dynamics. Plug and play. Mounted them in the step wells of the bumper.
Similar to Josh_O, I installed Diode Dynamics SC2's (red running light & reverse function (no brake like the C1R's)) in the same spot. I utilized the existing bolts that mount the plastic liners to mount the lights and drilled a small hole for the wiring. Also utilized their 7-pin plug-and-play adapter. My truck now thinks I'm always towing, which is annoying at times, but I do appreciate the blinker-activated camera views being on all the time. Highly recommend
