Let's see those AT4 1500 trucks towing!

New 2022 Passport GT 2951BH
6500lbs dry and a Tongue Weight of 750ish
Picture from the side is with no air in the air bags, surprised how little sag there is. I towed it back from Spokane, WA to north of Seattle. I had cruise set at 70-73 and the truck pulled great.

Very nice setup!! Going to shoot you a message if possible with some questions, if you don’t mind.

I own a 2021 GMC Sierra 6.2 Liter with the tow package. The towing capacity is supposed to be 11,800lb. I’ve been looking at a https://www.ganderrv.com/rvdetails/...-west-alta-2810kik-rear-living-40k-LOW2016259.

It is 33 ft and has a dry weight of 7,200 pounds. I plan to purchase the 10K (RB) Fastway® e2™ with Installed 2 5/16 Hitch Ball.

Will my AT4 be able to tow this trailer comfortably?
I don't think the half-ton AT4s have a towing capacity near that high most of them are closer to 9000. That sounds like the towing number of the standard Sierra not the AT4.

With the Max Trailering package and the 3.42’s, Wheatez is right about the max tow assuming the truck is equipped with those options. ( https://www.gmc.com/content/dam/gmc...21CT100_2021_GMC_Trailering Guide_DIGITAL.pdf ) Make sure you check the sticker on the inside of your door for max payload and trailering just make sure.

I’m towing a 7000lb dry /700lb hitch weight, and for my AT4 it was a little bouncier than I would’ve liked even with a BlueOx 1000lb weight distribution system. I don’t have the trailering package but do have the 6.2 which is supposed to be good to 8,800. Make sure you keep an eye on the payload as well, which I think is up to 2,000lbs for you. Again, be sure to check the sticker inside the door for your specific trucks numbers.

I’ll take a pass towing a 33ft trailer at appx 9k by the time it’s rolling down the highway with that truck. But that’s just me. I’m sure you’ll find plenty of people who have pulled bigger/heavier trailers “just fine” with lesser trucks.

I didn't realize the towing got that high with those options, I thought it was closer to 10. My mistake.

New here, love the info. I'm on several other forums for my hobbies and find them very helpful and hope for the same here. After a long run of FOMOCO units (explorer sport and navigator), I ditched the navi and went with GM. I've been eyeing the AT4 since inception and I was tired of the 3.5L Twin Turbo problems we've had (turbos, transmission, timing chain, O2 sensors, never-ending P305) and wanted straight up V-8 Power. I do a lot of towing (a fishing boat, 24ft pleasure boat and a snowmobiles) Recently purchased a one-owner 2019 with the 6.2 that has the performance pack (cold air intake and cat back exhaust). Absolutely infatuated with this truck 😍 and all it is! Here is the unit with the sleds (Ski Doo) hooked up:

Since this is a towing thread.... I've decided to adjust my hitch to the Ultra-tow 32712 hitch to accommodate the MPTG, found out the hard way it deploys directly into the hitch!😡 Any other suggestions would be great!

I've already added several of the Boost Auto light mods: Fog lights auto on, cargo on with reverse and all lights on with high beams. I'll be adding the wireless console charger when they are back in stock.

Very nice!!!

Beautiful setup! Can you give us some more info on that trailer?

I have no idea of your towing experience so bare with me; ‘21 at4 tow cap. Is 8800 - 9200. If it is a 1500 limited at4 it is, most likely, 9000 - 9100. But that’s not the point ; your road weight for the trailer is likely to be 8500 range, or more (most likely). That’s approx. 850# subtracted from the approx 1500# useful load; now subtract a load of fuel, the generator if its in the back, weight of all PX incl the dog(s), and anything else in the back of the truck. The GVWR for the ‘22 at4 is 7000-7100. The easy way is to load the truck for the road and take it to a CAT scale. Then run the numbers with the probable trailer weight. Everything you need is on the door frame stickers.
The WD hitch is the way to go. But run all the numbers before you buy and DO NOT listen to the sales guy. You would probably be more comfortable with a 2500 or a smaller trailer . GD’s by the way are really nice !!
