Factory Power Running Board lighting.

Update just installed the banks pedal monster and installed a bed cover and while I had my truck in my shop I was laying down on the creeper and found my driver side running board led strip with moisture inside the led strip and corrosion towards the front of the strip

So I found my problem just a defective seal for the led strip and that seems like it can get fixed just sucks it’s been just over a week with this truck

My drivers side did that brand new. Dealer after eval ordered a module, didn’t work and then ordered the LED light strip. Service report said it had water in it. Took three trips but they finally fixed.

I’m heading in next week and you clearly can see water inside of it and it’s turning green with corrosion kinda sucks it did not make it two weeks without a problem other then that love this thing!

So I was incorrect/wrong when I stated steps were being replaced by dealer. According to dealer they replaced the led lights strips only. The lights have been installed after a 3 week wait and both sides are working for 1 week now w no issues.

I came across this thread after my passenger side lighting stopped working. I went under the truck to look for condensation and amd instead found the wiring harness right near the pivot point on the step was totally broken, looked like melted plastic as well. Has anyone else had this happen?

Didn’t want power boards as I figured they’d suck. Dealer ordered them by accident. Driver side led bar worked 2 weeks and it’s out SMH. Want one better fellas go to ur settings —> vehicle and try getting your boards to open and close when you go in and out of park instead of doors opening so as you load shit they are not going up and down with every door open close… NO MATTER HOW YOU SET stow or open they do the same shit. It automatically switches back to what it wants to do. Try it you will see. Went to dealer and we tried a few and i told my dealer this is not just my truck GM sucks and they don’t have it programmed. Lo and behold now that I’m on my 15th duramax. I was correct. U can’t even change the settings. So ya we are gonna go after GM I want them to reimburse me for the boards and I will get them too. I’ll keep yall posted lmaooo

Hello, new here, been irritated with my step lights since i got my truck.

2024 AT4X HD
Got it 3 days before Christmas.

Step lights only work with remote start and entry/exit lighting. So after that 30 seconds and the headlights and all shut off so do the step lights. Or if you turn your headlights off manually when you park, you get no step lights. Total crock if you ask me, they should be hooked up so if the step deploys the lights are on

Nickfire20: Agree 100%. GMC screwed up in their implementation. Hopefully someone will come up with a bypass to make them work the way 'they should'.

I just noticed my driver side is doing the same thing. I can see a small amount of water and the copper conductor strips on the LED light are slightly corroded. It's weird they didn't use waterproof LED tape lights in this location.

I have a 24 2500 Denali with about 3000 miles on it and have been to the dealership twice to have the strips replaced for water damage . They weren’t surprised either time.

I have also noticed that the lights only seem to come on under certain conditions . I was starting to think that when the truck was brand new they would come on whenever I opened the door but I’m not sure .

I’m curious if anyone has found any documentation about when they should come on? I have found install manuals for older models that say they should turn on every time you open the door .

Only come on when starting and turning off. Sucks.
My driver side light failed w/out water. Only had 300 miles and hadn't see rain or a wash and still failed. Replaced a few months ago by dealer. No issues at 7200 miles. Let me know if u find out any manual describing.
