Apple issue or GM issue?

This happened to me before iOS 18, and still happens once in awhile. I've sat there and effed with it and tried to do everything to make the phone connect via CarPlay and I can never get it to connect w/out turning off the truck and turning it back on to reset the infotainment system. I haven't tried rebooting the phone, so I'll try that next. I did find a work-around for the bluetooth sound in that the radio has the bluetooth connection that works when the CarPlay isn't working.

Resetting GMC Infotainment system.
To reset your GMC infotainment system, press home button on your steering wheel for ten seconds or more (lower left button on right side of steering). If that not solve the issue, try disconnecting truck battery or batteries for several minutes before reconnecting them.

I don't have Apple but I have been dealing with the same issues with Android auto. Mine will not connect at all to Android auto. I have been to the dealership 4 times for them to try to get it to work. Every time I go it works when I leave and after it sits overnight it won't connect the next day. The factory Google gps is also super slow when looking or loading anything. Radio also loses my contacts and forgets my trailer settings from time to time. Super buggy system. Going back tomorrow for them to try again. It is really getting old that the radio in a 80k+ truck won't work. Makes me really miss my Ram!!

Perhaps its my imagination, following last week's software upgrades/updates at the dealer, the infotainment system is connecting faster to carplay; I don't have to wait to decide if I want my front fogs (not OEM) on or not.

I do not have the update but mine usually connects quick enough for me. On rare occasions it simply won't until I start the truck next time then it's normal. Also cuts out a few times in the first couple of minutes it's running then smooth. I have not taken it in as I expect to be getting a couple more recalls but the only one right now is infotainment update.

Never had it cut out even before the update.

any one have any idea why text notification would quit? i have everything set to on. been trying to resolve for weeks. used to pop up along the bottom of the screen for 10 to 15 seconds and then drop down. phone is 18.1 and truck had some update and now this. any help would be great --as stated all notofications are on

Are you seeing this in CarPlay? Mine will display a message saying a text has been received but only if I have the CarPlay selected for display at the time. Sometimes when I have passengers I dont want it displayed anyway. Learned that the hard way.

before the update -yes but the screen was on sirius radio. i do not use carplay

You need a second phone/line for secret text messages you don't want your other half to see 😁

It’s probably turned off in notifications…. 18.2 changed a bunch of stuff for the worst. Hard reboot phone and informant (not a reset, restart)

Did reset on both with no results. I think the last update removed it. gm update not the phone

@ske774 - not a restart but a hard reboot

For truck: While in “Park”, press and hold the phone hangup button on the steering wheel for 10 seconds.

For phone: https://www.solveyourtech.com/how-to-do-an-iphone-hard-reset-a-step-by-step-guide/
I came back to this thread to post this exactly. I did the factory reset to get Airplay working (it worked), but still had some issues even after that, to include the skipping issue. I found the hard reboot suggestion on GMC's website, and it has been a much better since then. I did have to do a hard reboot one other time, but that was after valet had gotten the truck, and CarPlay wouldn't connect. I just put in Park, held down the hangup button, and after the reboot, it started working.
