Apple issue or GM issue?

I did a reset of the infotainment and I’m back in business. Sucks to have to go through that, but at least it is working.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone asked tech support? Is GM aware of the issue?
I know a lot of us like to fix things on our own…..however, I get a good fussing at if it is not one of the first steps taken when I have to fix something at work. For a few reasons. 1. To document the issue, 2. Sometimes others have called in with similar issues and there is already a fix in the works, 3. It’s similar to RTFM and takes some of the guesswork out.
There are always a lot if issues when 2 manufacturers are trying to interconnect their products, all it takes is one update to throw a wrench in the works.
Anyway just thoughts before the first cup of coffee on a Thursday.

The only issue I have with CarPlay is my music seems to cut out for a brief moment every once in a while.
My wife’s suburban is doing that, but I don’t think it’s just CarPlay. She took it in initially because the audio cut out completely and the vehicle audio (turn signal, seat belt chime, etc.) was coming out of the rear speakers as well as the interface shutting off. They installed a new head unit and now music is cutting out randomly. She took it back in and they ordered her a new amplifier so we’ll see if that fixes it once it’s installed. Might be worth asking the dealership about it. I don’t know how they came to that conclusion.

I was having this same issue randomly with Android Auto. The only way I could use AA was to physically plug my phone into a USB port. Although it has since created other issues, I have not had trouble connecting to AA since they did the serial gateway update.
Hopefully the infotainment update stays working for you.

@True Bee would say "You wouldn't have that problem with a square body!"

By the way, where is he? I haven't seen him post, I don't think for some time.

After the update have you tried a hard reboot of the informant?

Cutting out audio is typically a hard reboot solved problem.

I did a full infotainment erase and that allowed me to reconnect via CarPlay. But the skipping is probably even more noticeable now. Annoying, but not as frustrating as not being able to connect.

Been using CarPlay since I bought truck in late July. Has worked pretty well. Started having some issues where sometimes when I got in truck, CarPlay would not work. Usually could turn off/on Bluetooth and/or WiFi and it would work.

Today, worked fine driving to the office. Couldn’t get it to work when leaving. Of course, I need it the most today to get somewhere I have never been. I tried disconnnecting, forgetting, restarting, and on and on, no joy. GMC screen would give warning and I would select Enable CarPlay, but then get message that no CarPlay device is recognized.

I don’t know if an iOS 18 issue or a GMc issue. I’ve been using iOS for a week and hair has been working, so not an immediate issue after the update.

Ugh. So frustrating. And I don’t want to pay for an Onstar plan to use the built in Google function.

Anyone else having same issue?
I have that issue on my truck and every vehicle I own. When it happens I usually just restart the phone and it connects right away

That's what I did, after restarting Bluetooth and Wifi. Even restarting the device didn't solve the issue. It took refreshing the infotainment center to get it to work.

when you say a hard reboot, are you talking about erasing the information settings to factory, or something else, like disconnecting the car battery? I did a full erase, and that solved the connection issue, but not the skipping issue.
