6.6L gas or Duramax for upcoming purchase?

I spent my whole life being financially responsible so I gave myself that one splurge. I do plan to keep it for a long time, even bought the Mopar 8 year warranty for it.
If the 392 had been available when I bought my current Wrangler I probably would have talked myself into it — even though the price tag was past common sense for somebody of my modest income. I love the power and the sound.

The Hemi is one of the best motors ever built. I had three work vehicles with that motor, all thrashed on a daily basis, and not a single engine-related problem in over 400,000 miles. In contrast, the Ford platform that preceded it had plenty of problems and MUCH less power. In fact, our fleet’s presumptive turn-in mileage on the Dodges was increased from 120,000 miles to 140,000 miles because the Chargers were so durable. (Our miles are like aging in dog-years, because the vehicles spend hundreds of hours idling to keep equipment running, and they are accelerating and decelerating hard all day every day.)

I know all about the exhibition of speed charge... I was addicted to wheelies on my street bike in my early 20s. Now I watch my 16 yr old son clutch up wheelies on his dirtbike out back and worry. Age and experience really change your perspective.
Seeing a lot of death changes your perspective too. When you’re in your twenties and you hear “life is short” you don’t believe it, unless you spend time in combat or some similar environment. By the time we’re 60 we all get it. Life really is short, so we shouldn’t do so much stuff that’s likely to shorten it.

it's rare that i do it , but like many things i own, better to have and not need then need and not have it

to chime in to the OP. it really depends on if your going to tow anything or not... if your are Diesel all day. if your not and can get your hands on the gas then that might be the route to go.. i know the gassers in the 2500 are hard to find honestly, and there slower than the 1500 6.2 ... so if you want my 2 cents it either diesel or 1500 6.2 . this is what i personally did !

Sorry but they are not the same…I test drove a 24 1500 AT4 4 door and a 24 AT4 2500 back to back and the 2500 is much roomier instide. Even out side you can tell the difference.

The 2500 cab is alot roomier than the 1500 cab…well worth the upgrade in my opinion.

The dimensions are the same, according to GMC but the rear doors are different at least.

Well you really need to tell GMC the dimensions on their website are wrong.
