Hello all, I am looking hard at a new 2500 as they are by far the baddest trucks on the planet. Do I need a 3/4 ton? No. Do I want one, hell yes. So, in saying that, I don't tow anything, and my hauling is a typical trip to Lowe's or Home Depot, and maybe helping out my Italian wife's crazy family with stuff haha. Therefore, since my daily drive to work is 20 minutes highway each way, is that enough to work the Duramax and keep things like the DPF happy? Or is the obvious choice the gasser? I am an old military guy and have always had a love for diesels since I drove many variants in the Army. Therefore, the smell, sound, and now HP and Torque is intoxicating. Btw, neither variant will fit into my garage and will be parked in my driveway. So, the upstate winters come into place as well? I haven't owned a diesel in a long time, so please educate me on what I would be looking at under my operating conditions. Thanks all!

These new L5P's will start just like a gasser in the dead of winter. With that said, I'd change the filter late fall and use an anti-gel additive when temps begin to stay below 32°F.

So, when you say change filter, which one and how much? The anti-gel additive is added per each fill up? Thanks.

NO GASSER!!

2022 L87 Gen 5 6.2L owner that had an engine seize @ 58k mi. I watch the oil pressure more than the speedo now.

I do tow from time to time but will rarely tow over 8-10K. I didnt want to deal with DEF and higher maintenance costs 6.6 diesel. In regular driving I dont think the 6.6 diesel will do any better than the 6.6 gas on fuel efficiency. And then there is of course the 10 grand bump in cost. I much more considered the AT4X but I calculated how many miles I could cover with an extra $10K and went with AT4. I am absolutely thrilled with this truck.

I’ve had my 6.6 gasser for two months and love it. Similarly to the comment above, I’m glad to not have the extra diesel maintenance that I hear my buddies talk about. Sounds expensive.

I went from a 2018 2500 Duramax, to a 22 AT4 2500 gasser because I couldn’t find a Duramax that wasn’t 20k over MSRP during the covid market, and now have a 24 AT4 2500 with the dmax… HOLY SHITBALLS, this truck is sick… there is no comparison to my old 18, or the gasser… this thing will set you back in the seat and it’s gone… pulls my enclosed trailer like there is nothing attached. I’ll never go back…

Had my 2024 3500 6.6 gasser since September last year, I tow 16k 5th wheel in Colorado. It's does really well even through the mountains, just need to keep an eye on the transmission temp.

Sure, it's half the power of the diesel, but saves a ton of money in purchase/fuel/maintenance and no worrying about DPF/DEF etc. 100% would buy the 6.6 gasser with Alison 10 speed again....I'm less pleased with the fit and finish of the features and electronics though

Same here man, the 6.6 gas is an incredible truck and I'm thoroughly impressed every time I turn it on.
