2022 Refresh Order Experience

Looks like my order experience is coming to closure. This post is to only share my experience. I feel for those who are waiting unnecessarily and frustratingly long for theirs.

I ordered my AT4 (3.0L Premium Pkg., Desert Sand, Standard Bed) on 3/28/22. Wasn’t accepted by GM until early July. Was built the first week of August. Was told by my dealer it was not short anything needed to ship. Sat in Fort Wayne for over two months. VIN tracker never showed movement. Today (10/10) dealer calls and says it just showed up without any prior status update on shipping. Apparently is was trucked outside of the normal rail shipment from IN to the north east. GMC chat says it is still waiting for shipment hilariously. My dealer told me 6 months up front and it took 6 months and two weeks total so I am not complaining. But, I didn’t anticipate the difficulty of the long periods on not knowing anything or having any idea when things would progress. 🥴
Out of curiosity, is yours missing anything? Hood insulator, parking sensors, vent blower motors?

Where in the Northeast are you? I’m in RI. I ask because when I talked to the resolution team about a week ago she said mine was waiting on a truck which struck me as odd but I didn’t put much thought into it. Mine had been sitting in Marion OH for months and then moved back to Ft Wayne.

NH. One interesting statement from my salesman, a couple weeks ago when I happen to stop by, he said that rail shipments were going to somewhere in MA because the Selkirk NY lot was full. They were sending drivers down to get their inventory to skip the wait for last mile shipment. Your experience sounds brutal.

Yeah they usually go to a yard off the Mass Pike. I’m hoping mine just shows up like yours. That would be a pleasant surprise.

I continually kept my expectations low so I wouldn’t go crazy. I was doubtfully hoping for November at this point. So it was a pleasant surprise.

It’s pretty infuriating that Chevy customer that have been waiting are getting a 3k rebate yet GMC customers get nothing.

I’ve held out as long as I could but I have finally given up on waiting for my order. I found and agreed to purchase another AT4 with all the same options (different color) from another dealer that is expected to be delivered by this coming Saturday. I’m frustrated at the fact that doing this will cost me an extra $3k but I just want this whole shitty ordeal to be over with.

Was it a pain to get your deposit back?

I haven’t officially canceled my original order. I won’t do that until I take ownership of this other one. All I have invested in it is the $100 reservation cost through the GM website. I signed the agreement sheet for the sale price after my order was accepted but they never asked me for a deposit.

23's are starting to show up in dealer inventory and my 22 is sitting in a parking lot somewhere. I think I've had enough with this process. I would rather pick up a 23 off the lot somewhere and have the new LZ0.

I have pretty much given up on my original order. Ordered back in mid April. Truck was built at the end of June. Has been sitting in Mexico ever since. Have gotten different answers as to if it is awaiting parts or not. A month ago put another deposit down for an AT4 that showed "In Transit" to a dealership in Oklahoma only to find out it is sitting in a yard in Indiana. No movement on that vehicle to this very day. 2 weeks ago, put another deposit down on an AT4 going to a dealership near San Antonio. That one showed up at the dealership 2 days ago and hopefully I will be going to pick it up on Monday. This whole process has been absolutely ridiculous. Already talked to the dealer in Oklahoma on the process of getting my deposit back from them but wont be doing it until I am driving an AT4. Lol. Original dealer better not give me any problems with my deposit considering how long I have waited and they will probably be getting more money if the truck I ordered ever shows up.

Well I am finally the owner of a 2022 AT4. My original order has yet to come in and I don’t know or care if it ever will. I had found an onyx black AT4 that had become available that was scheduled to be delivered this morning, I had agreed to buy it and had put down a deposit to claim it even though it was about $3k more than my original order. And then out of the blue late Thursday night another dealer contacts me and tells me that they had one in Titanium Rush Metallic get delivered and become available due to the original purchaser backing out for personal financial reasons (this is the color I ordered mine in). I jumped all over it. It had all the options as my original order and the only difference was that this one had the 20” wheels upgrade and I ordered mine with the 18” wheels. The cherry on top was this dealer was also selling it at MSRP so I saved $3k vs purchasing the black one. Drove an hour to the dealership first thing Friday morning and purchased it. The dealership of the black one refunded my deposit without any fuss whatsoever. It’s been a strange experience. When it was all said and done I felt more relieved than I felt excited. It is a gorgeous truck and I’m glad the wait and all the other BS is finally over.

Also, if there’s anyone here that is in the Dallas area - On Monday I am going to inform the dealership of my original order that I am cancelling. I don’t know if anyone would be interested, but if you are maybe you could contact them and inquire about reserving it for yourself, maybe it will arrive soon.

So at this point I assume GMC doesn't want to finish the trucks sitting waiting for chips because many of them have price protections that will cost them several thousand $ each. I was searching last night and there were already some 2023s sitting around that are pretty much what I ordered but with extra stuff I don't want like paid subscription to OnStar, Sun Roof, 20" wheels. They have all the chips that would have been needed for my truck to be finished but they cost like $7K more than my order.

So it's a waiting game I guess. How long can I wait before I say fuck it and they finish the truck and upgrade the price to sell to someone else.
