2022 Refresh Order Experience

Well I'm out of the GMC game. Gave up on my truck, ordered back in march, been built since June. Dealer told me a while back it was staged for shipping. Still isn't here, that was 8 weeks ago. Went and visited my SIL in Ft Worth a week ago and my BIL and I went and looked at Dodge. While test driving one, I found a GMC dealer with 3 AT4s on the lot with the 6.2. All were very similar to what I ordered. My original order was at $68K, these were stickered at $72K and some change. Told me they would sell me one at $9K over sticker. $81K is absurd let alone I will never pay over MSRP for a truck and I recommend no one else does either. They told me they are getting that currently, I chuckled and told the guy it wouldn't be from me. I left and two days later he called me and wanted to negotiate. I had already made up my mind. Bought a Ram Rebel with the 5.7 Hemi. Truck rode much better than the GMC AT4 that I was finally able to test drive and also came with a 33 Gallon fuel tank. Dodge Dealer offered $4K off Sticker and was no pressure sales, he knew I already had a GMC on order. Dodge had the majority of what I wanted with a few missing bells and Whistles that can always be added later. Probably saved $10k off my original GMC order and close to $20K off the one I found on a lot. At this point my advise is screw brand loyalty (I've driven a GMC/Chevy since I was 18, so close to 20 years now) and anything over MSRP or that any dealer can't deliver. Rates are going up, vehicles cost more. Find something you can be happy with that won't break the bank at the end of the day. One dealer couldn't deliver the truck I ordered, one dealer wanted well over MSRP and Dodge was offering under MSRP. My choice was clear. Save my money and get a truck that day for a better deal. Overall I am happy with my choice and GM has lost a sale due to their inability to deliver.

Enjoy your new truck :)

I tend to think all of the car companies are equally jacked up. I had a similar experience with Ford. I ordered a MY22 F150 Tremor in Jan 22. I was given 8 different production dates and it was finally produced 09 Aug. It is still sitting in Dearborne waiting on chips/parts? All I got was BS from Ford. They gave me a case manager from the Ford executive offices, worthless. I found a MY22 AT4 that was in transit in September that was not already claimed. It showed last week. The GMC GM at the dealership had no visibilty, it just showed up on a Wednesday and Thursday I bought it for MSRP minus 500. Enjoy the Ram. The only Rams around here are base strippers or Limited w/diesel that no one wants.

Well after just about 11 months my truck finally showed up on Wed. I was traveling so I just got to see it today. Picking it up tomorrow. Of course the dealer didn’t know about the price protection and tried to charge me the new sticker. Luckily a call to my executive resolution rep cleared that right up. This ordeal had been such a challenge I’m not even excited about it but just relieved. I will say that 6.2 is nice.

Does anybody have any way to get GMC to actually look into something and not read a computer screen? I’ve tried executive resolution. They are worthless. My dealer tells me that GMC gives them no way to check up on anything. I’ve been waiting 11 months and counting. Over a year from when my AT4 was pre ordered. The dealership is getting AT4 literally the exact same specs as mine…in a freakin 2023 model shipped to them daily. I can’t decide if they are intentionally holding price protection trucks or if back in May they started stock piling all these trucks that were missing chips and the ones that got ordered 1st are buried in the back of the lot and they just keep shipping new trucks that were built because they are easier to get to. So basically the people that gave them their business first are getting their trucks last. It’s absolutely ridiculous. But I don’t have an extra $10k to throw at a new one. I just want the one I ordered. Most frustrating experience I have ever been a part of.

Glad you got your truck at the rite price! The truck will get you excited when you drive it. It is BS tho on what they are doing. Congrats- I think, maybe LOL

Man I feel for ya,ll! I now know how lucky I was! They delayed my order, so I said go pound sand. I found my AT4x sitting on a small lot at sticker with all options on it. Well except, exhaust, which I have added

I’ve been told mine hasn’t been waiting for anything other than to ship for a month. Out of curiosity, was yours missing anything? The 2023’s are showing up with everything but steering column lock. Going to be a bit pissed if mines missing a ton of retrofit crap considering it was built the first week of June.

I completely feel your pain. Mine was built in May. I’m not sure the resolution team does a whole lot as far as getting them shipped is concerned but my rep did call me weekly and seemed to know a lot. The only reason I didn’t bail was the price protection.

Mine was built the week before yours and it is missing the park assist and cooled seat blower. Pretty frustrating that it sat for that long and couldn’t get those things but at least here in New England I won’t need that for another six months.

Thanks man. Was it a Mexico or ft Wayne build? Congrats on finally getting it! Mine was built in ft Wayne, which is just 3 hours from me. Same as you, went from excited to just being relieved when I finally get it.

Congrats man, i was in the same boat as you with my truck being produced end of May. Resolution team has been useless and i finally got a call 3 months after contacting them. Rep said my truck was still in Mexico. As far as the price protection how did you get them to honor that? Is there a particular verbage that needs to be used or should the escalation team already know about it? Again congrats on getting your truck.

@Tski @That 713 Drank I was fortunate to get mine at the end of September but I know we've been following each other's story. Glad to hear at least 1 of ya'll got yours now!

Make sure to check the paint for "rail dust"! On white it is very evident but on other paints it may be subtle. My white truck was covered in this when you looked up close (and so were every other truck on the lot) This is where they ship the truck on a train and the train wheels send hot metal sparks up into the car of the train landing on your paint.

I originally denied taking delivery until they clay bared the entire truck and came back a few days later.

Thanks. For the price protection I just called my resolution rep. She in turn reached out to a regional person. I guess dealerships have regional reps. In fairness the dealership also reached out to the rep to find out.
