2022 Refresh Order Experience

When I received notice that mine was available to ship I was also told the shipping process could take anywhere from 8-16 weeks. It’s ridiculous.
Yeah Agreed, My dealer said he's seen it take up to 8 weeks but the fact that it hasn't moved gives me little hope for that ETA.

So sad to see everyone in same situation. This has made the car buying experience almost not worth it. My AT4 has been on order since January. Produced since May. Finally bayed and ready to ship since September 1st. Hasn’t moved and inch since May. I’ve called and tried to get questions answered. It’s impossible. Including the “executive resolution team”. Don’t waste your time with them. They just call and give you the same copy and paste answer as the chat does. So far everyone’s response is “if your in a hurry we suggest you just buy one off of a lot”. Of course you do. The minute I do that I walk away from $9k in price protection. Not to mention the dealer makes an extra $9k on the truck I walk away from. It’s just infuriating. Can’t wait for this to be over. I pray this isn’t the way car buying is done on the future. I don’t think I will do it again. And honestly probably won’t buy a GMC again just because of the way they are handling this. In my opinion everyone is treating it like it’s a $500 patio set that I wanted for summer. Not a $70k purchase that will take most of us years to pay for. I stopped being excited about this purchase many months ago. Now I just want it over with. Feel like everyone wins but me if I walk away. And they do.

My dealership notified me my AT4 shipped and I have the VIN number. Is there anyway to look up the VIN and see if it is shipping complete with no retro-fits? The dealership couldn't give me that info as they are running on half power because of the hurricane.
What dealership and when did you order? I am in the same boat with the Hurricane. TPW was the 26th but my dealership was hit by the Hurricane. Seems like they’ll survive.

Dealership in CA. Preordered in October 2021. Order placed with GMC January 14th 2022. Was accepted for allocation few weeks after. Finished with production May 25th. At that point I got an email from GMC and a call from dealership telling me my truck was built and shipping and they were just waiting on tracking. 4 weeks later found out…,whoops Nevermind….your truck is on missing parts status awaiting chips. Sat there from May 25th until September 1st and I was told it now has chips and bayed for pickup. Should have it in 3-4 weeks. As of today October 3rd it still hasn’t moved an inch. Built and shipping from Indiana plant. Also I’m being told trucks are making it to Los Angeles and then sitting for a month or more to make it from LA 2 hours north to my dealership. I’m honestly going to be surprised if I get it in 2022 at this point. And gmc has been telling people ordering 2023 models they should be shipping in January. When I ordered mine they told me 4-5 months tops. My dealership has gotten in a BUNCH of AT4 trucks that were all orders WELL after I placed mine. There is no rhyme or reason to what gmc ships. It’s not fair and I won’t be ordering from them again. Their customer service is horrible.

Damn man that’s one bad horror story.

I ordered (preliminary) the 2023 on June 27th. Last I talked to the dealer on 8/26 he said the order was accepted by production control and has a TPW of 9/26...then the hurricane in Florida hit directly in the area of where the dealership is. It’s still intact so that’s good. I’ll probably check in with them in a few weeks. I hope this process is not like the things you and everyone else has been going through.

Just don’t get your hopes up. Huge difference between production date and shipping date. Like I said my truck has been produced since may and still hasn’t shipped. And from my experience don’t even waste your time calling GMc and/or your dealership. Gmc doesn’t give anyone any info. Literally won’t know anything until your truck actually moves. Their chat line is absolutely worthless. They will tell you they will call you each week with an update but it’s just a copy and paste response. Last is be careful if you are financing. I have had to have my credit ran 3 times now for the same purchase. When I was first shopping, and then in June when they told me it was shipping they had to run it again because it was past 90 days. And now they will have to do it again once the truck actually ships because it has been another 90 days. It’s the most absurd process I have ever dealt with.

My person on the executive resolution team must have got tired of all my questions during the weekly call. This week they sent me an email instead so I replied with several questions.

I’ve had horrible luck with everybody. Executive resolution team has been worthless. All they have told me is that they are the highest people up and will inform me weekly. And then sometimes call once a week to say it hasn’t shipped yet but we are watching it closely. My truck has been ready to ship since September 2nd and as of today still hasn’t moved and inch. My truck has been built since May 25th and there is a good chance I won’t have it this calendar year. I’m so over this whole process. Just want it to be done!!

They’re putting them in “available to ship”, even when they’re still waiting on chips. It’s so when the chips arrives, they can install the part and put it into transit. But I got a call three weeks ago from my dealer (where I sold for 11 years), that said my name showed up on the manifest for parts showing up. So your dealer will know when the chip arrives. But that was three weeks ago, and it’s still sitting in the Mexican sun. I think they’re keeping them until they get a resolution on these exhaust and ignition issues. Or they’ve just completely given up. I screwed around and sold my car at the end of July, and am driving a car that’s borrowed. I highly expect GM to have to step up to the plate and make this right for everyone that’s waited this long. Pre-chip-shortage, ordering a truck was a 10-week wait period MAX.

It is what it is, its not just GM but most if not all manufacturers of vehicles, sxs or other toys, and it will only change when North America gets back to manufacturing its own parts rather than just assembling them.

Dealerships are another problem, when people get codes and can't book the vehicle in for service. JMO

I Agree. I sold for a GMC dealership from 2010 to 2021. And ordering a truck has ALWAYS been 8 to 10 weeks to take delivery. I think most of everyone’s frustration at this point isn’t the long wait period. It is the fact that they built the trucks to just park them in the elements for months waiting on parts. They tell us it’s ready for delivery, even thought they’re still sitting and waiting for parts. I believe that’s a play for the stockholders. So they can say they have “x-amount” of trucks ready for delivery. But they’re piecing them together at this point. There’s no chance our trucks are coming in void of problems.

On top of that, Chevrolet Silverado purchasers are getting $3,000 for having to wait so long. At the very least, my truck is going to get every flawed panel repainted under warranty.

Still the same boat as everyone else. Built the first week of June. Same BS responses from GM chat. Talked with the GM resolution person one time 4 weeks ago. Decided to give her a call last week to find an update. No answer, voicemail left. Couple days later same thing. Tried again today, same thing. So I sent an email, still no response. Gm has offered ZERO incentive for the people who've been waiting months for already built vehicles. No special financing, no rebate no incentive at all. This will more than likely be my last GM vehicle if I even decide to take the truck when it shows up.

Well I got the word that my 2023 AT4 is built and I got the VIN. Next step is delivery… 🫠🫠

Preliminary order - 6/27
Order accept by quality control - 8/26
TPW - 9/26

According to the vin there’s about 103000 built so far.

Looks like my order experience is coming to closure. This post is to only share my experience. I feel for those who are waiting unnecessarily and frustratingly long for theirs.

I ordered my AT4 (3.0L Premium Pkg., Desert Sand, Standard Bed) on 3/28/22. Wasn’t accepted by GM until early July. Was built the first week of August. Was told by my dealer it was not short anything needed to ship. Sat in Fort Wayne for over two months. VIN tracker never showed movement. Today (10/10) dealer calls and says it just showed up without any prior status update on shipping. Apparently is was trucked outside of the normal rail shipment from IN to the north east. GMC chat says it is still waiting for shipment hilariously. My dealer told me 6 months up front and it took 6 months and two weeks total so I am not complaining. But, I didn’t anticipate the difficulty of the long periods on not knowing anything or having any idea when things would progress. 🥴
