2022 Refresh Order Experience

Put my reservation in October 2021. Sent a truck build to a dealer in early February 2022. Salesman called and said they had one allocated that had a few more features than I wanted so I said go ahead and put my name on it. They’ve promised no dealer market or market adjustment because I started inquiring back in September. Just got an email the other day direct from GM saying the order has been accepted for production. Salesman says he expects it in 2-3 months from now. Happy with the communication so far.

I drove a 2021 AT4 1500 diesel today FINALLY to make sure this is the truck I want. I’ve had a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel since 2017 and I’ve loved every minute of it. The torque on this truck is great and I’m sure I won’t be disappointed. I am considering ditching the AT4 however for the AT4X. What’s another $15k?! Or $7k after all the options on the AT4. Haha.

This will be the first pickup truck I’ve owned. Always wanted a Denali since I was a kid but I live in the rural CA eastern Sierra mountains now so the AT4 should suit me way better for this environment.

Time to vent a little!! Ordered AT4X in December truck was built on 3/14. Shipped to Portland by boat where it is still sitting. I was supposed to get it on 5/4 but now it has changed to 5/19 because not enough delivery drivers. Dealership said they have 7 trucks in Portland that they can’t get here. Now they want to explore other options of getting them here. That will probably take a month to figure out. I have already made my first payment and have the license plates because I paid for it on 4/2 because it was just a few weeks away then. Tired of f.. ing waiting. Has anyone else had this issue? Can I pick it up myself? Portland is less than 3 hours away and would happily go pick it up. Any idea of what I can or need to do?
I can’t believe you’re making payments on a truck you haven’t even taken delivery of yet. I would be raising hell right now if I were you. Remember, the squeaky wheel *usually* gets the oil.

I was thinking the same thing... Though, with interest rates climbing guess you can get kinda lucky there. May offset the cost long term if banks raise them any higher.

Hi from Florida. Sharing my order timeline since I see stories of much longer lead time to shorter. As of Friday, GM Chat furnished the latest that the truck was built and ready for shipping. Beyond that, they said to stay in touch with the dealer on how that looks. I'm going to guess 2 to 3 weeks.

1-4-22 Sent reservation to GM w/$100
1-13-22 Sat down with my dealer to spec out what I wanted
4-12-22 GM emailed me the order was accepted for build (confirmed by dealer also)
4-15-22 GM emailed that the truck was scheduled for production
4-20-22 GM chat agent gave me week of 5-2-22 for production
5-2-22 GM chat agent could not update and said to check back end of week
5-6-22 GM chat agent confirmed truck had been built and awaiting shipment

So, like everyone, I am looking forward to a delivery!

Refreshed AT4 1500, 6.2, SB, Cayenne Red Tintcoat, Tech package, Premium package, Preferred package, 20", bed hard cover, performance exhaust.

Reading the owners manual online now so I'm ready.

I have received emails from GM when my build was accepted and when it was selected for production. For those of you that have made it past that stage did you receive emails when it was complete and shipped etc.?

My AT4 was built last week and Friday the chat line said it was awaiting shipment. This morning I did get an email update from GM saying "your vehicle has left the factory and is headed toward the next stage of its journey. Look for more GMC Order Status updates to come your way as your vehicle order progresses."
I'm not sure what that means or an expected delivery date, but that is the word so far.

Something I did notice was that it didn’t have the kicker system in the tailgate. It is supposed to have that and is that installed by the dealer then?
Very possible. I'm getting mine this week and noticed in the dealer pics the front license plate holder and the high clearance steps were missing. They said those are installed in house. Maybe the same for your kicker system.

When I put in my order all the dealer installable options were left off. He said that anything they can install they will which will speed up the process. That included the kicker system in my case. He said they have a warehouse full of that stuff and better supply than the factory. But I ordered an AT4 where it's an option. I think it is standard on the AT4X no? If standard it seems odd GMC would put it on the dealer to install.
