Let's see those AT4 1500 trucks towing!

Heaviest thing I have towed so far. Total weight about 5500 lbs. Unsure of hitch weight at the moment.

You use load distribution? What PSI were you running in the Duratracks? I've had a difficult time finding the tire inflation chart specific to load, so I've had mine at 38. How far did you tow, and what speed?

I didn't take a picture yet, but I've tow our family camper, weighs right at 6k with a 671 tongue weight, we haven't really done anything significant yet since we are still trying to break in the engine, but it seems to handle the weight just fine. The only place we've taken it so far is to a state park 5 miles away, seemed a little bouncy (no speeds over 40mph) in the back, but nothing we didn't expect.

I run my tires at 40psi no load distribution. Didn't seem to need it. With the car loaded I only went about 60mph for 20 miles or so. I tow my ATVs at 75mph all the time back and forth to the mountains. As for the bouncing in the back, it only got worse over time so I took off the Ranchos and put on Bilstien 5160s in the rear, that problem is gone now.

Are you just waiting to do the rear, or did you not need to?

Was towing the primary reason for the swap?

Is it that much tighter on daily driving, any floating left?

I changed out the rear, I wanted to test them out before I do the front. Towing had a lot to do with it but overall the floating was getting worse, almost as if the shocks were bad. Now the front will continue to bounce while the back end stays planted and under control. The Bilstiens are a stiffer, but not unreasonable in any way. I liked the ranchos when I first got the truck, but they just seemed to go downhill really fast. Coming into my drive way with the Ranchos would cause the truck to rock back and forth (which the kids enjoyed) but the Bilstiens soak it up with a lot less drama.

Yea, I had the Multimatic DSSV shocks on the ZR2, a bit similar to how you explain the Bilstein over the Rancho, but I'm sure the Bilstein blows the Multimatic out of the water. I'd really like to swap these Ranchos because I hate them, but I'm having difficulty finding any Bilstein 6112's or 5160's.

Not sure where you're located, and it's possible supply is running low, but I had better luck by getting the part number straight from the Bilstein website and searching for that instead of the model. Ended up finding them at 4wheel parts here in Denver.

I did manage to find everything, now I just need to get them on. Rears are easy enough, but I'm not compressing those springs, someone else can do that.

What is the part number of the bilsteins that you ordered for the front and rear? I will be towing a travel trailer about 7500 lbs. Thanks.

5100's up front, 6112's in the rear. They improved the ride significantly, did well towing, but the dual res rear shocks had a bit of road noise over big bumps. There was no way to get rid of that rattle, and it was infuriating. If I had it to do over, and I was keeping my AT4, I'd have found something bigger and better. You really shouldn't need to do that in the top of the line off road truck from a manufacturer.

I got tired of always chasing something with this vehicle. Whether it was the electrical gremlins after an update, the poor ride, the poor interior comfort, etc... so I went back to Toyota. Good luck with your rigs, folks!

New 2022 Passport GT 2951BH
6500lbs dry and a Tongue Weight of 750ish
Picture from the side is with no air in the air bags, surprised how little sag there is. I towed it back from Spokane, WA to north of Seattle. I had cruise set at 70-73 and the truck pulled great.
