Why an AT4 over the competition?

My current truck is a 2015 Silverado LTZ 1500, with chrome package. I needed to upgrade for towing my camper, so I started looking at Chevy 2500/3500 models, but I do not like the looks of the front/grill on the latest generation. I also live in Denver area, where they use magchloride on the roads in the winter, which really can mess up the finish on chromed parts. So I started looking at the AT4. My buddy bought one a couple years ago, and I really liked the looks, and all of the black trim instead of chrome. So, I ordered a 3500 AT4. Should be here the first part of May.

Great topic! I have a checkered past with GM grew up with some S-10s, and a Berretta then a Tawhore with the 5.3 AFM that was throwing rods and would've cost $10k to repair. I switched to Lincoln based on their pricing for a 'luxury' vehicle, have had Navigators, MXC's, Z's and a Ford Explorer. The Navigator was a land yacht with a 5.4 Triton and was bullet proof and heavy as hell! Any Ford product we had with a turbo ALWAYS, I mean ALWAYS had an issue. Thus began my disdain for FOMOCO turbos.

I saw the AT4 at the Chicago Autoshow and fell in love. It was simple yet refined, not gawdy, looked tough, had tough guts and s subtle smile, and the appeal for the unique AT4 badge and the package that came with it. It was different, unique and was not your run-of-the-mill Sierra/Silverado etc. I've had 5.3's and they were fine, but I wanted a bit more juice, so the 6.2 raw power V-8 with the tow and performance package was a no-brainer for me since I tow quite a bit. I call it the Cowboy Cadillac as it is rugged luxury without all the chrome bling, I'm not a flashy guy, actions speak louder than words! This is my first pick-up and should have done it years ago!🤟

I have always had GM trucks. My last 5 trucks, 3 Yukons and 2 Sierras, have been Denalis. I guess you get used to the luxury. Once the kids left the house and no need or a 3rd row I switched to pickups. The luxury of the Yukon Denali with the utility of a bed. I am going the the AT4 because I get luxury, the utility of a pickup and off-road ability. The 22 inch bling wheels just don't cut it off pavement beyond dirt roads.

Had a 94' GMC extra cab stepside. Lifted...the whole 9 Yds. Loved that truck. Put over 200K on her. Blew rear diff gears straight through the cover pulling my jet Boat. It was time to upgrade. Drove a 2000 F-350 Crew, Long Bed, 7.3 for 18 Yrs....It was really hard to say Goodbye to her. Went full Mid life crisis and Hunted down a brand new Challenger TA 392 and swore I would be buried with that car by my side. The wife and I knew we had to get a Pickup eventually. But the plan was to keep the garage queen as well. Fast forward to dropping off a Freshman to school and playing a Chinese fire drill with a 100+lb Bernese Mountain dog in the back....it was time. We were all set on a Dodge Rebel (diesel) but still wanted to check out the AT4. Stopped by a Dealer sat in the truck and it was game over. Said Goodbye to my 392 and never looked back.

I like the looks. Raptor is 20k over sticker and it looks same as it did 8 years ago. Everyone has one around here. Too common.
Refresh interior is really nice. Really no reason to buy used.
The ram truck is just ugly to me. I really don’t like the new ford 2022 updates either.

I had a scat pack challenger, which is why I had to yank the muffler off this 6.2L. I'll miss that car forever. But living in NY, tough to keep a summer toy. (Summers are for motorcycles :) )
