This can’t be normal ?

Well , it’s normal for me.
27000 mile ‘22 6.2, totally stock.
Interstate speed control @ 75, I see anywhere from 20 to 23.
My #2 trip mileage has never been reset since new; showing a 27000 mile average of 17.6

The 1/2 ton AT4’s are going to get significantly better fuel mileage than the 3/4 ton AT4’s…they are lighter and have higher gearing.

'22 at4 limited 6.2.
I get 19-22MPG all day long at a constant 70-75MPH. I've done several round trips from MT to NM through Moab and will average 18+ for the whole trip.
Crank it up to 85MPH and the MPG goes down to the 15-17 range.

So after reading all the terrible mileage questions and answers about the 6.2 I did a trip yesterday from northern NV to Scottsdale AZ and I ended up with a mileage or 20.9 after 721.4 miles at a average speed of 70 on the computer, a lot of the drive was in the low to mid 80 mph. Is this normal with a 6.2 ? Or did I just get lucky. I am running premium fuel as recommended. Stock wheels and tires. My brother gets this mileage in his 5.3 RST but I didn’t think the 6.2 would. I’m in the same boat. I just drove to Kingman, AZ from the middle of CO. From Grand Junction to Moab my top MPG was 22.8 on my dash at around 70-75 mph. Average I would say for the whole trip was around 19-20 mpg. Running premium fuel as well. Did notice when you run 80 or more the mpg dropped to around 17, but no surprise there. Not upset and gonna keep my eye on the mpg’s!

So got 17.6 on the way back with a stupid 20-25 mph headwind most of the way as some points I was down to 14.5 the last 200 miles I finally got back up in the 20-21 range and it brought it up. Average speed was 70.4 so I was moving pretty good after sitting in traffic for over an hour. It’s hard to get that average speed over 70.

My 24 GMC 6.6L gas motor gets absolutely horrible gas mileage..like 10 to 12.…I’m not complaining to much. I just thought it would be a little better, but for 76.5K sticker I feel sorry for the guy who didn’t put down at least half because you will go thru some gas in this thing.
I have Trip 2 as when I bought the truck (delivered with 6 miles on it) and will not reset it so I can see the overall fuel mileage. With 8000 miles on my 2024 6.6 Gas I am at 12.5 average. Trip 1 is the one I reset every fill up.
But when just going to work I'm around 14-15, in traffic or in town will be 12-13. Straight fwy cruising I've seen 19, but on average 15-18. My 2018 Duramax was at 16.7 for the last 15,000 miles that I owned it. I am noticing about 3-4 mpg less for the 6.6 gas compared to the diesel. Having said that even if I spend another $100 per month in fuel, which I don't...it would take over 8 years to recoup the $10K upcharge for the diesel.
Luckily my new one should be paid for in a year...but like you said if you put the minimum down the wallet might hurt at the pump, but it is still cheaper than the diesel.
Unless you are towing 20K weekly or have some GIGANTIC trailer, for a lot of people the diesel won't make sense.
I ditched the diesel and went back to gas and it tows my setup as well as my diesel did. But I have a light set up, maybe 5k loaded.

I just picked up my 6.6 HD AT4 and have gone thru 2 tanks of gas. I knew it would not be good mileage but surprised that 12 mpg is what I have been getting and I'm very easy on the throttle. I like everything else about the truck, just figured I could get at least 15mpg out of it?

I read on another thread that after 20K miles or so it will get better. I guess that is the break in period.
My 2018 Duramax got better mileage after a while too.

Just Interesting info:
I drive about 70 miles (all interstate - a rarity in New England) to a skeet club. I set the cruise control at 72 and get 13mpg every single time. Last month I immediately got caught behind a massive wide load using both lanes. It put on my adaptive cruise control and I stayed steady at 52-55mpg. I got 16.5mpg, and I wasn't close enough to be drafting. Will I drive 55 everywhere for the gas mileage? Hell no. :)

I thought those slow wide loads were supposed to let traffic by every so often, but this one didn't.

My truck has 6500 miles on it now and I’ve had more all highway time in it. I went on a 250 mile one way trip and I averaged 14.5 mpg so I’m happy with that. I was running 77 on the interstate and 60 on the secondary highways. My high mpg for 50 miles was 17 mpg…the intown mpg is 11-12 mpg still.
