Tailgate emblems: Keep or Debadge

Does hyper dip peel off around emblems easier than plastidip? I think I read on a post that it did. I wouldnt mind spraying the chrome around the GMC but not sure how easily it would come off the wrap if there was overspray and taping around it seems like a nightmare. I want to delete the chrome on the grill GMC too but sounds like its a chore to get those emblems off.

I'll add that taking the GMC off the grill was pretty easy. Just need to remove a few of the radiator louvers and you can easily reach the screws that hold the emblem on.

This is my work with the Hyperdip products. I got about 3 yrs on the product before the dip started to pull away. The front lasted about 2.5 yrs but it takes more abuse from rain/bugs/and weekly automatic washes. Easy to reapply if needing a touch up.

Not an X. But, I removed the Sierra and the dealer decals. I think it looks lot cleaner. I also turned the red in the GMC to a matte metallic black. I think it looks a lot better.

De-badged and removed the black wrap yesterday. I prefer this clean look. Black GMC emblem is next

On one of my trucks the dealer had installed heavy rear mud flaps with 2” tall aluminum strips advertising the dealership name. The day I picked up the truck I drilled out the pop rivets holding the aluminum strips, flipped them around, and riveted them back in place. Looked much better.

Years ago I saw dealers in both Texas and Georgia that had drilled and mounted dealership emblems on the lower corner of the tailgate. I doubt anybody does that anymore, but I would never take delivery of a truck that had been defiled like that.

Any tricks or tips on removing them?

1) Warm sunny day or gentle, careful heat from blowdryer or heat gun, then dental floss or fishing line.
2) 3M eraser wheel on drill to remove adhesive
** If you have the tailgate wrap it just peels off

I used this method for the badges. Worked really well. I don't have an eraser wheel but would have used one if I did. Wrap just peeled off in one piece on a warm day.

I recently swapped my chrome emblems for black ones. While I had SIERRA off, I started to think it’s a bit of a cleaner look. Just curious what others thought too. Keep the black SIERRA or take it off?

On my 2022 AT4X… I took Sierra off. Left the AT4X and GMC.
