I am sure others have had this issue, due to the dealership keeping parts in stock, but I have had to get the outside tailgate touch pad replaced twice so far. My tailgate would drop all own its own. It would flash the lights, then drop down. I parked it in front of the dealership and 3 of us stood there and watched it happen multiple times. Every time I closed it, it would do it again. Sometimes within 30 seconds, other times a few minutes. The truck was sitting unlocked, with the remote in it, and no one around it. Ended up as a faulty outside switch, both times. The concerning part is as others stated, if I had been hooked up to a trailer or in the garage or close to an object, it would have scratched/dented the tailgate.
