Dented my tailgate yesterday  One of my motorcycles had a flat rear tire so I put my Nomar tire changer in the receiver hitch of the truck. I used to have this thing floor mounted to the floor when I had a shop but the new house has no shop and I never mounted this thing in the garage floor due to the slab being a post tension design. Well I was breaking the bead on the tire which was not wanting to break down and at some point the wheel shifted and the lever arm on the bead breaker slammed right into my tailgate and dent and slight scratch was the result. I knew better since this had once happened on my old HD truck and it hit the painted bumper on that truck which was a scratch but no dent. Oh I was livid at this point yesterday. The dent is off to the side of the tailgate and noticeable. PDR can probably remove the dent but the scratch is finger nail deep but not to the primer or bare metal. it is about 1" long. When it rains it pours here....

Ouch! Enough to make you say- Dang😂😂. I did worse. Went to ORV park unloaded SxS and backed truck in to park, push button from inside cab to get cooler- POW heavy multi-pro tailgate hits jack on the trailer. Dent by push buttons- stupid me, and Dang was not the word I used😂😂🤬

Believe starting with the ‘22’s, mine personally, you can disable the multi pro. Have the remote within 3’ and hold down the multi pro release button for approx 3 seconds. The tail lights will flash 3 times letting ya know it’s been deactivated.

Yea, I did that. It was not the center multi pro part, it was the whole tail gate that came open. I did it using the button in the cab, it always works. The thing that was not working musta been my peanut in my head.

I hate the drop tailgate button inside the truck because it is right next to the idle stop button and I am always afraid I'll hit the tailgate button instead of the idle stop button before my garage door is full up. Or like was mentioned with a trailer still attached and the tailgate will hit my trailer jacks on all but one of my trailers.

Same fear for me. That stupid "drop tail gate" button right next to the disable auto stop button is dumb. I am constantly checking behind me that my tailgate hasn't accidentally been dropped, especially when I am pulling my job trailer, which is often. Also, if I have my job trailer hooked up, the tailgate will hit the top of the trailer jack. I have been trying to figure out a way to disale the drop tailgate button, thinking about jerry-rigging a piece of plastic or small metal that would slip under the button making it unable to be pushed.
