New and simple Bose bypass with full Signal Sound

I figured out that PING noise.

Go to MyGMC app- Profile > Settings > Notifications ( I had a location alert ON)

Also check your information apps- I turned off Map+ and Spotify.

Now the PING sound that showed up recently on my truck is Gone.

Hey, this was the set up in my app. Looks like it was already off. But, I think that's just to notify me I turn location services on or off. I think I have to turn it off on the head unit itself?

I’m not sure how the ping is associated with those notifications or the infotainment apps I turned off. I know the truck quit making the Ping every time I unlocked it.

I also turned off the Android Auto app bc I don’t own one.

I'll give it a try! Did you use the my GMC app on your phone? Or disable it via the headunit in the truck?

Thanks
Casey

It works great. I put it in today and the kit has everything you need but amp. Turn signals and all chimes are gone when you disabled them in the PAC unit.

So far the sound is great with the eq in my amp dsp flat. I’ll adjust the DSP eq to each speaker soon.
Hi Phobby, I see you’ve had this installed for a few months now. Are you happy with it? Any other updates to pass along? Thx!

Unless GM pulls off some wizard upgrades to the Bose system before my next truck. I’ll do the same thing to the next one but immediately this time.

Hi there phobby, not sure if you are still active.

I just had a shop put the pac harness in my truck that runs through dsp and such.

My main question is, did the tone of your chimes and warnings change? For example, Lane departure and collision alarm is not a sharp beep beep beep as opposed to the softer sound from factory system.

The same tone as many of the other folks were having with the "faulty" unit doing the pinging upon opening the door.

I attached a short video showing the sound.

Hello, someone posted earlier about a possible fix for the ping sound, following unlocking door. I haven't tried it out yet.

Check all the possible notifications for the radio. You have individual app (xm, maps,….) updates, CarPlay updates, and radio updates from GM that can have audible alerts for user agreements, user login, etc. Check the GMC app- under profile settings are notifications for random stuff.

Also could be a failed/glitch in a GM update in some manner causing a login issue. I’ve had my truck log out of my profile, cellular connection of the hotspot lock up, and CarPlay fail to work wirelessly.

Sometimes with wireless CarPlay/android the connections on the phone and truck need to be deleted and paired again. It usually happens after a phone software, app, or radio updates- a part of the software coding sticks or gets copied over instead of replaced.

A GMC radio beeping three times randomly could indicate a low key fob battery, a false alarm from a malfunctioning door ajar sensor, a faulty key fob, or a glitch in the vehicle's infotainment system. Possible fixes include replacing the key fob battery, checking door switches, restarting the infotainment system by holding the home and fast forward buttons, deleting and re-pairing driver profiles, or checking for software updates at the dealership.

Attention: PAC audio has released a firmware update. I downloaded it, and installed. The ping sound is gone. Check their website.

Easy fix/test for the Ping sound.
1. Unplugged the yellow and black wire connection. Yellow= Positive and Black=Neg
2. Remove the yellow wire from both connector ends. (A baby flat head or similar can be used to press the little metal tab down to release the wire)
3. Hook the yellow wire (do not cut)on the AmpPro side to a +12v always hot wire. If you’re using the blue AmpPro remote wire to turn on your amp, disconnect and use the yellow wire (do not cut)on the truck harness side as Remote turn On for AMP.
4. Plug the black wires back together.

Now your AmpPro should stay ON all the time (it only uses around 0.5 amp=take weeks to drain your battery) and amplifier will cut ON like normal with ignition.

Test- if the AMPPRO was causing the PING sound it should never happen again. If the PING continues, it’s the truck sending the PING.

If the truck is making the sound.
-many amplifiers and DSPs have a power ON delay. Add 5-10sec should work.
-Or add a Time delay ON circuit to the remote wire. Like This and set for 5-10 seconds.
- if you do either time delay options you can connect the yellow wire back with the original connector:

A lot easier and cheaper fix than buying NAVTV unit if your truck makes the DING sound

Finished the nav TV install. Can say no ping or tone. Also, the noise floor is better. NAV sends a cleaner and I think stronger signal with less noise. The PAC not only had a noticable higher noise floor, but also sent a 1khz signal regardless of volume and even when muted. (see attached spectrum). The nav is super clean. No noticable noise, very clean signal and no errant tones. The NAV may not send tones like the PAC does because it seems to delay power up on the equipment for about 4 seconds longer than the PAC did. Not sure if this is why or not, but regardless, the NAV is a clear winner in my book. Works as it should.
