MultiPro Tailgate Real World Usage

I'm finding the tailgate to be moderately useful. A friend with a Denali, though warned me that pressing the wrong button will drop the inner gate on your trailer hitch, and dam, he was right. Ask us how we know!! Figuring out which button to press when, and then ACTUALLY pressing the right button is very annoying.

Has anyone come up with a nice plug for that big rectangular hole in the tailgate when the inner one is closed, and an elegant way to keep cr@p out of the hinges when moving anything fine-grained and loose, other than a tarp?

I bought this as soon as I got my truck and haven't had any issues. When the cap is open, it prevents the inner gate from being opened.

I use mine daily. Long bed, so it allows me to reach a little further. Holds my longer materials in place (Thule sliding ladder rack on the way), and allows the fork lift operators to get heavy pallets over my axle without having to go grab a push bar. I absolutely loooove it!

I feel I'm hijacking the thread, please pardon the intrusion and I seek forgiveness :(. A different slant on the same subject. Everything I do, I'm 72, exercise wise, involves extreme use of knees, hips and body muscles; bowling, biking and running. Although supposed to be hardest on knees, luckily no knees issues so far, I'm always so weight conscious, I lose maximum weight running on the street, sadly haven't done much of that this year at all. I do a fair amount of mountain biking but not enough for an appreciable weight loss. Next comes bowling which I do around four hours every Friday (30-40 games) and it definitely helps with weight loss. My new year resolution is to run at least twenty or more miles per week, which can be challenging in WA due to winter weather here, I need to ignore/overcome the weather. I bowled 32 games in time permitted, yesterday, mostly lousy scores; I play alone on two lanes.
I currently have 3 deep bruises on my left leg from playing beer league hockey 🤣 My wife thinks I'm nuts for putting my body through it, but between that and coaching my kids with their teams, it really helps me get through the doldrums of winter. I'm a firm believer in finding an activity you love, and using it to stay active, regardless of your age, but even more importantly as we grow older. We have a guy that plays with us that is 77, but you couldn't tell by looking at him. Aside from the physical benefits, I think there is something to be said for the social aspect of it too by being around others that enjoy what you do. Mental health is just as important, and its been proven time and again how physical activity can help with that as well.

I put the LED step lights in. When this first came out I thought it was a little gimmicky, but it is the best idea out there. I think the corner step in the bumper and the HD with side steps is simple and highly effective.

Took that big bulky handle out pretty quickly after it was always getting in the way of my load. I suppose I should take a picture of it on a shelf in my garage.

The rectangular hole I was talking about is the one in the tailgate itself. It's where you stick your fingers to open the little step so you can try to keep stuff in the bed with the tailgate down.

Already dropped stuff in there, but what I'm worried about is gravel, dirt and/or rocks, and then having to go get a vacuum to try to clean it out before it scratches up the paint and grinds into the mechanisms there.

I’ve used mine multiple times for many different things and love it. My favorite use is folding down the step to use as a bench to put on my golf shoes at the course. Works like a charm.
