MultiPro Tailgate Real World Usage

I tweaked the upper tailgate unloading a heavy toolbox. We had the tailgate open as a normal tailgate but the entire weight of the box on one side was solely on the inner/upper gate and bent it down when in the all flat position. It no longer opens as easily now either.

Is this a load strapped to the lowered inner tailgate rather than being secured inside the bed?
No, the load is resting/laying on the upper tailgate which is lowered. It is strapped down to the tie down hooks inside the bed. Front is under the tool box.

Both my 22 (sold) and my 25 have the multipro tailgate and other than lowering them when new to put in the lights they have never been used. I use the step in the corner of the bumper and when I had my sled deck on I used the rear tire as a step to climb up on the deck. 🤑

You damn youngin's. I remember those days. Kinda. Now I need these...🦿🦾

Shovelling and plowing snow this morning but looking forward to going sledding soon and you can't open the tail gate never mind the multipro with the trailer. I also ride my Spyder F3S in the spring to fall, use it or lose it. ;)

I figured when I got mine it would be just a gimmick I'd never use. Seems like I use it all the time. Although, it's mainly for the step to get into the bed, or to make the tailgate shorter so I can reach into the bed further. 5'8" puts me on the shorter side of life, and although relatively young I guess, years of hockey has taken it's toll on my knees and hips. I don't jump off tailgates anymore 🤣

Keeping knees and hips in shape and good working order is the key to mobility as we grow old.

Just turned 80 last Sept. Seems like everything has really become harder to do. Not complaining, just the way it is1
I feel I'm hijacking the thread, please pardon the intrusion and I seek forgiveness :(. A different slant on the same subject. Everything I do, I'm 72, exercise wise, involves extreme use of knees, hips and body muscles; bowling, biking and running. Although supposed to be hardest on knees, luckily no knees issues so far, I'm always so weight conscious, I lose maximum weight running on the street, sadly haven't done much of that this year at all. I do a fair amount of mountain biking but not enough for an appreciable weight loss. Next comes bowling which I do around four hours every Friday (30-40 games) and it definitely helps with weight loss. My new year resolution is to run at least twenty or more miles per week, which can be challenging in WA due to winter weather here, I need to ignore/overcome the weather. I bowled 32 games in time permitted, yesterday, mostly lousy scores; I play alone on two lanes.
