Loss of power

Based off what I'm reading here, I may be wise to keep my CarByte installed if it prevents updates from being pushed. I'd rather let them iron out the bugs until I get updates made. With winter coming soon, I can't afford to be stranded out on a lake because an update failed.

Easy to get ticked about this (and rightfully so) but this same thing happens with nearly anything that has firmware/software. Phones get a new version pushed and they have more bugs than Minnesota in the summertime. They generally get ironed out, but it takes months.

I took it for a drive a few mins ago. It started right up after having the battery tender on it all night. The update seems to have completed, as it says it's up to date. BUT, I have no Apple Car Play !! Me no happy!! Guess I'll be calling the dealer...

Leave it off the tender for at least a couple or more hours then check if it still starts.

At the dealer, tests showed both batteries were toast, both replaced under warranty, everything reset. I asked them to park the vehicle in the lot while I’ll wait for at least two hours doing nothing, to ensure the new batteries won’t discharge too;
I’ll then inspect the truck myself, measure battery voltages and current draw ( have my clamp ammeter/voltmeter with me), then start the vehicle before driving off. I don’t want to have to return here again, 21 miles to home.

After about an hour and a half later, I measured battery voltages and they were 12.4V. I measured parasitic current after ten minutes and it was around 0.1Amp which is about right. I don’t think it’s ever zero but .1Amp is acceptable unless you guys think otherwise.

Now it’s a case of a waiting until tomorrow morning to check if all is hunky dori. For all the inconvenience, I got two new batteries which hopefully will last at least three or more years before they need to be replaced.

I let it sit yesterday and overnight without the tender. She fired right up 2 times in a row without issue...so I think my batteries are good. But the CarPlay won't connect to my phone, so I might swing by the dealership since today in my Saturday.

New batteries here did the trick; this morning I measured the battery voltage and it was 12.4V which is what I'd expect. The truck started right up. I've disabled software updates only to make sure the next update happens in a controlled fashion at home when connected to home wifi.

On your carplay issue, you should also check your other functions or settings which a flat battery messes up.

Although dealer replaced both batteries, during next replacement time, whenever, in two/three or more years, I'll look for deep cycle batteries if available, such as ones on a boat, which can be fully discharged without damage.

Work in Progress. Infotainment reset did not help. Battery had drained by this morning again. This time I did the vehicle reset from the reset selection from Infotainment screen. (once I was able restart my truck with a 200amp floor charger). Prior to that I noticed a 2-3amp current draw from the passenger side battery alone which is clearly enough to drain batteries, assuming the same was from the driver side battery. Following a complete reset, the ambient/parasitic draw after waiting around 10 minutes to allow computer to switch off, well almost, is like a .1amp or thereabouts per battery.

In the meantime I find the driver side step has stopped working, no idea why, passenger side is fine. I may have moved or blown a fuse somewhere, and was just about to look at the fuse chart.

More updates to follow....:(
This is a result of the latest update for sure; once it suffers an incomplete install, it appears the truck is doomed (at least in my case) even if a subsequent install is successful. Let us know how it goes.
Update: the dealer had my truck for a few days, but everything seems to be back to normal. The primary battery was replaced, and there were two separate software issues: the lighting control module (because of the low voltage) and the failed OTA (caused the low voltage). Both were programmed/updated. So far so good, except for the infotainment system notifying me that there is an available upgrade. I was thinking the dealer had updated to the current version. Maybe they rolled back. I'll have to find out, but I sure don't want the OTA update to proceed and wind up back in the same situation.

For what it's worth, my previous updates show to be 86283147.mnf SIHM22B-00499.02 and 85747470.mnf SIHm22b-00306.22 with the available update GM N25-25380 available. I'm holding off on this one.

Thats my latest version: GM N25-25380
Now the only issue is constant reminders that my tires are at a low pressure; I maintain them at 43PSI. I think I'll just reprogram/reset all TPMS and hopefully taht may shut it up.

I reset TPMS and for now it’s done the trick.
