Disapponted city driving with AT4

I am familiar with Jackery and have a 300 and a 1000. A 1500 will run a dometic for several days. I actually wish I had not bought the Jackery 1000 and did a make your own with an Amazon 100ah battery that will run the refrigerator for even longer than a Jackery 1000 and install under hood. Would be a good use of space.

I knew GMC had removed the 12 from the cab but I come from the Jeep world where I am very used to running my own wiring and mods to make it mine.

I paid $125 for this battery on a amazon special.

If I install it I will get this dc-dc charger and set it to charge from alternator if the engine in running.I might order it now because its $93 and usually $100 or more.

These look interesting. I’m curious to see how you mount them and deliver power to the cab.

I was hoping this truck wouldn’t suck up so much aftermarket money and installation time. That was part of the appeal of the AT4X package, but I’ve resigned myself to it now.

The Garmin switch arrived yesterday along with lights, brackets, and more wiring. I’ll integrate it with CarPlay and have enough switching to manage the exterior accessories.

I think the ZR2 also has 12 volt outlets, or at least it did. I’m still looking at ways to install a couple of those. Since almost every other truck and suv has come with them from the factory for the last 50 years, there aren’t many good aftermarket solutions.

If I remember right, power seat adjustment was’t even available on the passenger side of the factory-lifted Chevys.

On the Ford and Dodge side transitioning from a half-ton to a three-quarter or one-ton truck doesn’t require giving up features. It just requires more money.
Well at least in a GMC AT4 moving up from a 1500 to 2500 doesn't require more money. Thats why I own a 2500.

Is it possible to get to a $106,000 Monroni in a 1500? I don’t recall seeing one within $15,000 of that mark.

Honestly, I'm not sure if the Silverado still has the 12V. I'm guessing if they dropped it off the GMC, probably did off the bowtie models too. My build is in 1 month. By then, they will probably announce the 2025 details, and I bet they add front parking sensors (which for some strange reason they don't have on the 24).

I am not as familiar with Ram, but appreciate how Ford lets you pick and choose from many more individual options, and most can be had on the various trims.

On the cost side, it is mind blowing that the ZR2/AT4X half tons in gas are more expensive than the 2500 counterparts. Sure they add a front locking diff, but I'll take the HD every time.

I went to the GMC site and tried to build a $100,000+ 1500 and couldn't do it. What am I missing?

I'm not sure what they cap out at, but my local GMC dealer has 2024 AT4X half tons over 90k on the lot. These are now being discount close to 10k it seems!! I guess to hit that cost the AEV package is $6400 or so. The 2024 AT4X 2500 gasser I ordered stickered at 86,600 and included the dual batteries, alternators, block heater, high idle, and 5th wheel. That truck of course includes the power steps, which adds around $2200 on other HDs.

When pricing AT4 1500 and 2500 configured the same the cost difference was a couple hundred dollars. Of course you can get a AT4X AEV in 1500.

I'll have to double-check when I get home, but I think the Monroney sticker on my truck was just under $106,000.

The Beaverton GMC website shows the same truck with a $1595 factory tonneau and a Monroney of $107,435. There were several 2500s at ~$106K. They also show over 100 1500s on their site, but it looks like their most expensive 1500s are about $20,000 less than the loaded 2500s. This could be a diesel/AEV differential, since GMC doesn't spank you so hard for the engine options in the half-tons.
