Disapponted city driving with AT4

This illustrates a good point: we all care about different things. For me, having a switch that drops the tailgate, and another that simultaneously lowers all windows has zero value. If I’m opening the tailgate I’m going to access the bed, so I can wait the three seconds it takes me to get there and push the button. Somebody else loading because I’m disabled? They can push the tailgate button.

Maybe I’m uncoordinated and/or messy, but a loose glasses case is harder for me to find and use with one hand, particularly at night, than a fixed compartment. Can I do it? Sure, I did it for years, just as I managed with manual roll up windows and manual transmissions for years. I’ve just been spoiled.

These days trucks are kinda like subscription TV packages. There are maybe a dozen TV channels my wife and I occasionally watch, but to get all twelve of them we’re stuck with a subscription that includes another 100 channels we will never use, and a couple channels we enjoyed are no longer available. Obviously, I’ve gotten old, so I no longer represent the market.

The only benefit of the piano key tailgate release for me, is it saves 1 trip out of the cab, hooking up a gooseneck. Unhooking it doesn't matter.

So that's would be somewhere around 3 times a week, so no big savings. I need the exercise anyway.

Now, if you could drop it going down the road and have a GE mini-gun replica mounted back there, that would be awesome. Ya, I'm a James Bond fan.

I thought I was going to get the button to drop all 4 windows and I think I would use it on very hot days but didnt get it. Someone needs to make OEM looking switches for the switch pod where mine has a blank piece on either end. I'm assuming they are used for exhaust break on diesel and locking rear on AT4X, neither of which I have.

Could always just hold the unlock button on the fob before you get in.

Problem is, the piano keys aren't individual switches.

Thanks for your reply, Whaler. I agree on a handful of those for sure.

Conversely, the GM gives you a few things the F-250 does not. Auto 4WD in Colorado / Wyoming is greatly appreciated, as road conditions can really vary, and full time 4WD is not needed. The front end tracking / steering is much better. And the multimatic shocks, can any stock F-250 compare here? No. I guess this is an area that the Ford can be upgraded, but I am not the kind of buyer to spend 80k+ (gas for me, call it 90k+ for diesel) and then another 5k right off the bat to make the ride more compliant. I actually like a truck to drive like a truck, but GM really has a unique offering with the AT4X and ZR2, giving you all HD truck capacities with a compliant factory ride.

On that subject, a ZR2 would have given you the place to mount the accessory racks right above the screen, and the upfitter switches, although I am not sure if they wire anything through the firewall when you order this option? I know they mount the switch bank on the console. Ford has this option nailed with the overhead switches, and there are some great harness options that make wiring accessories a breeze.

In case you are interested, the AT4X gasser I ordered also omitted that switch. I guess they do it for balance on the buttons if you get a gas model - a blank on the far left for not having the exhaust brake, and a blank on the right after omitting the all-windows down button. Too bad we can't use these blanks for anything.

To the OP, you don't get a 2500HD truck for the fuel mileage or ride quality, you normally get these trucks to tow! Now what are you towing can depend on what truck you go with. My trailer is light and I could get away with a 1500 series truck, but I don't want truck that drives or feels like a car. I also want the bigger trans and bigger brakes. It's not always about what you tow, but more importantly "Stopping" what you tow! Having said that, my 2024 AT4 2500 Gasser rides exceptionally well.
The Independant front suspension will give you a way better ride than a solid axle of the Ford or Dodge.
You want a stiffer ride for towing for sure unless you want add airbags, but even still you want a more stable ride and not like an old 70's Cadillac that's super plush!
Just my worthless $0.02 LOL

That worked on my old truck. Have not tried this one yet and I just had it tinted so it will have to wait.
After your wait I bet you have a list a mile long and tint was just the beginning.

The unlock button works for windows on mine, but I'm learning there a lot of small changes after the refresh. And after reading about them here I'm definitely not ready to upgrade... no matter how bad I want that new dash. Maybe in another year or two when someone cracks Global B.s.

My far right switch is for downhill decent.

Here is a shot (not a great one) of the 6.6L gas AT4X.
