Dash Corner Speaker upgrade

Thank you for the additional considerations. How would the “anti roll off” be marketed with a powered sub?
I think it will be hard to find a powered sub that has an amp equipped with it. I have not seen any that do. That means you need to buy a separate DSP to go between the Bose amp and your powered sub to clean up and correct the signal.

Most amps with “DSP” will do this. It is referred to as bass roll off correction, or bass restoration and EQ, usually something to that effect.

The kicker Key amps have this feature which is why I went that route to avoid buying an additional DSP.

You may be better off buying a sub in an enclosure that meets your needs, then getting the amp/dsp that has the correct specs for you. You can usually just mount the amp to the side or top of the sub box and basically have a “powered sub”. Amps are so small now you can really mount them most anywhere. My amps in the 90’s were 4-5 times larger with less output.

Otherwise start searching powered sub combos with dsp or bass roll off correction.

Here is my sub box I made to fit inside my underseat cargo box with the kicker 10” solo baric and the kicker key mono amp and infinity 8 channel amp mounted to it. I put both amps on the sub box because I wanted access to them rather than the back wall which requires removing the seat back. I can plug in my lap top via usb to adjust tunning on the Infinity amp. Much easier to check warning LEDs, do tunning, or replace fuses if needed.

I will be happy to provide feedback. I'm getting them this week and will install them with the Bass blockers. My next step will be a powered subwoofer. I want it all hidden so I'm looking at slim line options and I'm open to recommendations. I'm planning on using a "no splice" harness to tap into the stock amp's signals and just running the power to the battery. I want simple on this one. I don't want to get too involved as my last audio upgrade was a Hertz speaker upgrade with a 12 channel Audison DSP amp coupled with a 400 watt Kicker sub on my Land Cruiser.
Do the bass blockers come wired in as copacitors as I see online? Or are these custom?

Product info:

  • 2-3/4" midrange speakers
  • polypropylene cone with mica coating and rubber surround
  • mounting hardware and black steel mesh grilles included
  • in-line high-pass crossover (250 Hz at 6 dB per octave)
  • double-roll surround for precise cone movement
  • edge-enhanced steel frame

Just like ones you can buy separately. They have male and female spade connectors so you can use them or not.

Here are the ones I ordered

Well it seems the speaker grills on the dash do not pop out and seem molded into the dash trim. When I started on the drivers side it was pulling up the trim around the HUD as well. Any suggestions ?

If I remember right I think the HUD surround is connect to the left speaker cover and it all pops off. Both sides should pry off pretty easy with a trim tool. Maybe start with the passenger side to get the feel.

A bit expensive, but recommended as a way to handle all pass filers in the Bose system, check out the PAC Amp Pro. It gives a clean signal for an Amp/DSP post Bose Amp. They run $450 or so, but a great product for a clean signal.

Thanks…. I did try the passenger side, I can get one end to pop up but towards the driver it looks like it’s molded as well. Maybe I can find a schematic.

Try prying around the edges moving locations to get the spring clips to release. Easier when you get over each clip location and work around the panel.

The grills absolutely "pop up". You need to remove the a-pillar trim, the fuse panels, the screws that retain the hvac vents, then you will be able to remove the grills. Tons of U-Tube videos on how to do it.

Your right, I forgot about the a pillars. Got to pull the 2 screws out under the covers on the grab handles then can pop off the a pillars. Dash speakers covers hook under the bottom of the a pillars which act as a catch.

Just wanted to update the post. The dash corner speaker covers on my 26 AT4 DO NOT pop out. apparently a mid production change requires you to pull the A pillars and a one piece lower dash trim piece out. I took it to my trusted audio shop here in Dallas who works on a ton of HD trucks as I couldn't figure out how these covers pop off. While there they installed a Kicker HS12 powered sub. Between the Audiofrog GS speakers that went in the corners and the powered sub, this tremendously improved the stock system. Imaging is much better, the corners can work as designed with the bass blockers and that sub fills in the low ends. Powerful and musical, no thump thump. I also installed my Banks Dash Pro while the A pillar was off.

I got these and they have zero sound with the provided blockers. Should I remove them and go with the THESE or just not install them.

I did the AudioFrogs but had trouble with the bass blockers and removed them. My system has Audison DSP amp for speakers and Audison amp for subwoofer. The change to AudioFrogs prior to amping was an improvement.
