Clunking from rear of truck when turning or rocking to side , and not head on ?

As a manufacturer, how in the F do you produce bad leaf springs?! The same exact design has been used since covered wagons for Pete's sake. My last pickup i retightened my u-bolts after some clunking, they were off almost 20ft lbs at 20k milage.
What is the torque spec on the bolts? I don't have this issue, nor do I expect to since I've never had an issue with my previous plethora of trucks, but just in case, or in case anyone else is wondering the same.

My truck was built during the strike and its possible they used rejected springs which they happily replaced with good ones now.

Just put the spring things on my 24 AT4X and the clunk is gone.
Unfortunately that did not work for me. GMC tech physically checked the springs with a sthescope while someone jumped on the tailgate; he concluded excessive friction between leafs and recommended a replacement. Its perfect after new springs.

I think it's something like 70 or 80 ft lbs, I'd have to look it up again, can't remember off the top of my head.

Complete replacement spring packs and shackles was a permanent cure for my truck; nothing else worked including spring things.

I'm wondering if it's the 1/2ton that the spring things are possibly working on.

omg it was such a relief not having to listen to the truck groaning; I have very sensitive hearing and like many, I easily get irritated with any creaks, groans etc. from passengers too. :)

I creak and pop, but a new truck should NOT!
