The precise issue I am/was having. I will have to make an appt with the dealer and forget taking it to my mechanic.I can relate to the above.
I had no issues with a '23 2500 from new. Until I took it in for it's first oil change at 400 some miles. Immediately as soon as I pulled out of the shop, you had to make a hard right down hill. I heard a squeaky clunk in the rear. Didn't think nothing of it at the time, truck was still new and I was on cloud 9.
In a few days it was really irritating me. You could take one hand in the rear stake pocket and rock truck side to side gently and it would produce the sound. You could step up the multipro gate and get the noise.
I flooded the spring packs and shackles with pb blaster, got the right side to quieten down but not the left completely.
I made an appointment and took the truck, with a tbs in hand and showed the service writer.
The first step is to loosen and re-tighten the u-bolts. But it's a torque to load process. Which means one time use. Anyway, that did not solve it and dealer said they would have to order new spring packs. Parts won't be in until the following day. There was 11 packs setting in the warehouse in Colorado. They put new packs in, but they didn't order new u-bolts, the local Ford dealer had a set and they used them.
Long story longer, the replacement packs have been fine for another 15k miles.
3 things to take from this. 1, The truck has not been on a lift, allowing the axle to hang, since. 2, Maybe Ford has better u-bolts that don't stretch. 3, Why did a gm warehouse have so many on hand? Unless it fits multiple generations or the T1's have had a rush of replacements.
Interesting. Lets us know how it turns out.The precise issue I am/was having. I will have to make an appt with the dealer and forget taking it to my mechanic.
Should I request dealer to order new Shackles and u-bolts from GM or Shackles from GM and bolts from Ford?I can relate to the above.

"Spring Things" was worth a shot however they did nothing for my truck the AT4X; creaking and groaning did not stop. GMC Tech subsequently confirmed my AT4X needs new rear spring pack assemblies which have been ordered by the dealer and expected at the dealer in another week or so.2023 AT4; had the spring clunking, installed the "Spring Things" (took less than an hour) and noise is GONE!
