Boost Auto vs Amp steps

I was an AMP electric steps guy until they screwed me. I had them on my 2106 Canyon for five years and then on my 2019 Ford Raptor. I bought the AMP's through an online sale and didn't keep the email. However, when they arrived, I filled out the warranty card and submitted it to them.
I had a motor go bad under warranty and called them. They asked if I had a receipt. I didn't. They chastised me for not having a receipt. I told them I had filled out and submitted the warranty card. They said they had an issue at the facility and lost all the warranty cards. Okay, I still have an issue and need a motor.....sorry you don't have a receipt. I asked hm to explain how it was any different that he had lost the warranty cards. He was just an ASS.
My neighbor also installed them on his 2016 Canyon. The motor just went bad on his......guess what, they discontinued the motor.
I'm sorry, I won't ever do business with them again.
My 2024 Sierra is a Denali and has the OEM electric boards. They have a nice feature, if you push the button on the end, the boards move rearward so you can stand on them and reach into the bed.

Most humble apologies upfront. Change of subject. My question, is if you buy the GM power steps, can the dealer fish your truck to get the step settings in the infotainment center? I believe the AT4x has those settings?

Had or know of 5 sets of Amp steps. All of them had issues by two years old- failed motors, main controller computer, harness issues, not opening/closing, odb plug issues, steps not closing level.
The 2025 Amp kits are the same junk parts they’ve been using for 15years with minimal updates.
Thank you for sharing. That’s what I’m looking to hear. Not necessarily bad things, but what people’s experiences have been with both. I do feel like the amp tucks up more to cab and is the true length of the cab which is a cleaner look. While the boost auto is a bit shorter and thicker. But looking at the mechanics of the boost vs the amp the amp looks like a lot of plastic parts are in the build, While the boost is pretty beefy.

thank you. That’s the feed back I’m looking for. I want the factory ones but was told I can get them.

I was told that I couldn’t even get them. But that’s what I assumed when I bought the truck that I could get them. Most things are wired or have the capability to be connected any more. I would really prefer to have the factory steps. Anyone out there add factory steps after?

There are a few different options for AMP steps from single motors to a dual setup. They also have some more geared towards snow/mud etc. The kick stop on the factory ones are nice. My AMPS do something very similar but with a button and not a kick plate. I have had mine buried in mud and snow on several occasions without issue. Key thing with any brand is taking care of them. I wash mine regularly and lubricate with dry lube as needed. I did have a piece of black coating come off. One call and a photo, they sent a new board. However, I keep receipts so that might have helped. If I believe correctly, AMP is owned by RealTruck but has been making steps since the early 2010s. If there was a best we would all have them. We all like what we like. I did find the lights for the AMP boards a little dim so swapped them for some brighter rock lights.

Agree about taking care of them. Did the same with my factory ones on my ford. Didn’t have any special features like these do, but they tucked up nice and weren’t noticeable. Lubed them up twice a year and cleaned them every car wash. Which was at least once a week. Nothing lasts if you don’t take care of it. I tell that to my kids all the time. I was leaning toward the boost. But I’m afraid I won’t like them In Person. Anyone have a side profile of them on their truck. The Amps basically disappear. I’ve decided against the light styled boards and just going plain black. I like the amp is also full cab length, and how they tuck up clean. Don’t like they are plastic gear sets and think they use magnets to trigger the steps. Boost was controlled with the computer and taps. I’m not sure if amp still uses the magnets or not. I don’t even want the lights from the amp kit. Don’t want them to drill through the pinch weld. And my ford didn’t have any lights other than mirror puddle lights and they worked fine. I assume these trucks have those. Haven’t really paid attention to that. Bu those at4 puddle lights look clean!
