AEV Spare Tire Protection

Just looked at mine...dealership put the AEV rim facing down when they put it back up. Guess I'll be reversing that tomorrow!
It’s not that dealers don’t care, they follow the norm; the AT4X is a different animal.

AT4X It’s supposed to be face down… RTM

If you put it face up the offset will not allow it to tighten.

Any update on the spare cover?
Yes. It was a total flop. Center section was too small to have the winch "hook" to fit through.

I'm now in the process of getting a wheel spacer delivered, to use as a shim so the winch won't bottom out.. I'm using a 1½" thick spacer with a 130mm hub bore diameter.

The bore of the spare cover is 3". There is not enough metal to cut the inside diameter to 5".

Be aware an AT4X AEV spare is supposed to be retained face up, unlike standard spares. I rotate the spare too; I had Discount Tire add a TPMS to it; I did not use the trailer TPMS sensors which I still have. I also purchased an inexpensive TPMS sensor reset tool from Amazon. TPMS sensors need to be reset following rotation; at least mine did.
👍👊 got pics?

Darn! Was hoping it would be more promising. So the wheel spacer will insert between the wheel and “hook”?

Wondering if a round plastic disk, similar to flop cover could be secured with long zip ties that wrap around outside of tire through center. Some genius should figure it out but not enough demand for commercial.

That's my plan. I'll use a couple of the included lug nuts to secure spacer to the inside of rim. 1½" will be more than enough "shim".

A ½" would have been enough, but it's just a big washer without the studs. So I'm thinking it would just be slopping around until the winch got tight. A 35" tire fills the spare tire cavity up enough that I didn't want to be under the truck trying to adjust while cranking the winch up.
