AEV Spare Tire Protection

Yeah! Lets see how well they work against cowdung!
I tried the X-way and flipped the spare. Must be just enough off-set difference in the rims. The winch bottomed out ½" before the spare seated tight.

Exactly what I envisioned though can this be placed facing up? If so I suspect the tire may hang lower.
I'm hoping so on both accounts. I'd like to flip the spare and use this on top, giving me a strong ½" "shim".

I thought about firing up the plasma cutter and making a shim out of ½" plate. But decided it would be easier to set by the fire and type on my phone. 😁

See...this is easy! I know it's 10 o'clock on the rise, but it's pre-holiday festivities.

With only 150 miles on truck the spare AEV already has a few rock chips. I ceramic coated to keep cleaner but can’t wait for your test fit :)
Install it face up; zero issues here after 7000 miles with no protection.

Per gemarsh it doesn’t seat flush. Did yours assuming you have AEV wheel?

I don't have the x/ aev rims.

I have the stock rims. I'm running oversized tires. Did a multi-thousand mile trip and was worried about a flat.

I bought a extra rim and tire of what I'm running.

X/aev rims must have a different backspace, because the winch bottomed out on mine. If the x/ aev rim owners aren't having this problem, then flipping would be the cheapest way.

Flipping is no problem since the spare is meant to be stored face up in AT4X and also AT4X AEV. I actually find it better this way since it makes dropping in and extracting the winch clamp comparitively easier.
