AEV Spare Tire Protection

I was going to add my spare in the rotation when I saw it had matching wheel and tire. Then realized it doesn’t have TPMS . I need to take it off and get a TPMS added so I can add to the rotation pattern. Not sure how the system will recognize 5 however. I have the extra TPMS sensors that came with the truck for adding to a trailer, maybe adding 1 one the spare the truck will auto recognize? I don’t know.

Be aware an AT4X AEV spare is supposed to be retained face up, unlike standard spares. I rotate the spare too; I had Discount Tire add a TPMS to it; I did not use the trailer TPMS sensors which I still have. I also purchased an inexpensive TPMS sensor reset tool from Amazon. TPMS sensors need to be reset following rotation; at least mine did.

A tire cover like the jeeps have on the back of their rigs. It's made exactly for that.

Is this what you use pinebaron?

I'm not so sure about a cover below the tailgate; would accumulate water and dust while driving through deep puddles/water and from washing the underside, as I frequently do, unless a drain hole is cut into the bottom. I'd like to see someone else do it first :)

Yeah thought about the tire cover not draining.

I did not know this. If you’re correct mine is mounted incorrectly face down. Another item to add to list for dealer.

Anyone have any ideas how to protect the AEV 35” spare tire from chips and road grime? I’m sure over time the face will be damaged. Was thinking a thick plastic bag but prefer something cleaner. Obviously would need to drop the spare to instal.

Also, do you rotate the spare?
I saw spare tire covers for under vehicle on Ebay $135. Check there, looks fit compatible.
