I don't disagree with anything you said. Like many others, I also test drove everything in two months leading up to. I kept coming back to the GMC at4 before eventually pulling the trigger on it.
The RAM, only thing that has going for it is the Cummins. The Ford, loved it. Couldn't get over the hideous front end. The Chevy, loved the redesign too but couldn't get over the ugly hood when sitting behind the wheel.
Ultimately, I've been through two vehicles in the past year and I'm not a fan boy by any means, just someone who takes pride in their own work. I have a 11 suburban that I've done everything to including engine work, AFM/VVT delete etc. and the GM platform, crawling under when I got home just felt like home. I knew where everything was and how to replace it.
I also noticed a ton of aftermarket support on YouTube truckmaster, parts availability. Many brands to choose from etc etc.
I would say the only hang up that kept me from pulling the trigger sooner was the fact that GM still uses wax on their frames
