2023 AT4 Engine Crankshaft gone 4500 miles

This is concerning news to hear. You'd think as long as GM has produced internal combustion engines and the 6.2L this would not be a thing that would happen. I really think all of these quality issues you never used to see or hear about have been brought on by the new skill set of the workers now or lack there of. Face it the old guys have retired and gone on. Younger generation doesn't have or want to take pride in anything they do, just need a paycheck.

I hope this works itself out for the ones having the issue. Not so sure I will be this calm if mine grenades. Might be a while before I know, 6 weeks of ownership this week and I only have 502 miles on mine. Sad I know but I work from home and have no where to drive and if I do I take an old Scion XB to run around in. I honestly did not even need a new truck. The Denali HD I had albeit a diesel was in excellent condition with only 85k on it and not one problem in 7 years other than a DEF pump failure which I deleted the truck after that so no more problems at all with emission junk.

According to my door sticker my truck was built sometime in December 2022, I took delivery Jan 23rd. 2023 AT4X with 6.2L

I have the same issue on my 22 AT4 Limited. It died going down the road and wouldn’t restart. I had it towed to the nearest dealership. They diagnosed it with a bad starter and replaced it. Two days later, it died again but restarted. 5 miles later it started making awful noises from the engine. I shut off the engine and had it towed to the nearest GM dealership. It has been at 2 dealerships since the last failure and was finally diagnosed as a spun bearing in late January. I am still waiting on my replacement engine. It has been down for just over 100 days. It’s very frustrating.

A post mortem would be really interesting. A "bad batch" mentioned above; a build date collection would br interesting. my 6.2 build date is 20jan22 with 14000 , mostly highway and not a whimper.

My build date was 9/22. Took delivery on 11/11/22
Ordered on memorial day weekend.
Will keep posting updates

wow those chevy engines fail left and right all over the place, I haven't seeing anything like this

Was driving along and all of the sudden the truck started to buck, I thought it might be the transmission but it seemed to stop then notice Power going away started to hear the lifters or something make a lot of noises. I was nearly able to get off the road in a safe place. Then it would not start had to call roadside assistance to tow.
Another problem was we couldn’t get the truck in neutral because there is no release CRAZY.
They tell me i now have to wait two to maybe three months before the can replace the engine.
I have the same truck. did they say anything about doing a recall?

No word yet from dealer but i file a case with gmc and i actually got somebody to contact me back with information that indeed they were on it and that the engine was in fact on order. As for time they couldn’t say but will continue to provide weekly updates on the progress.

You are not alone. 2021 AT4 6.2L - 25k miles. Two engine failures both spun and stacked bearings/crankshaft failures. Have a buddy with 2022 Denali with 6.2L 50k miles and on his third engine also for exact same thing.

Jeez. And I traded off a 2020 AT4 baby diesel because they couldn't fix the constant "service emissions system" codes in a month. Hope my 2023 AT4X 6.2 doesn't have these bearing issues. Don't trust GM warranty service much anymore.

For the folks who have failed engines, I hope you get resolution very soon.
As far as their being recalls and there being an epidemic of failed engines let's not over think this, the folks on here are looking for some comfort that their issue will be resolved. The huge majority of owners with this engine are not on forums and are running just fine like they always have. JMO

2019 extremely lucky to stumble on....purchased w/37k...one owner, dealer sales manager driver, service only at dealership. Factory warranty, extended warranty purchased, service policy purchased. Oil consumption issues they finally start taking seriously at 48k. One failed 'fix' after another. First fix resulted in a 'seized engine' on the test drive. New engine arrived last week, eta to pick up late this week. It will have been 10 weeks, the first month w/no loaner.

Long history with dealership, company trucks, private autos...etc. New owner, loyalty out the window.

Well went to dealership today to check progress on the truck. The engine has been shipped and due to arrive this week. Don’t know how I feel after seeing my four month old truck pealed open.
