Asking this question because I don't know. Are you saying the GMC 2500 is 80" but the Chevy 2500 is not and doesn't require them? I know they are different trucks but also the same truck in many ways.

No. The 2500/3500 are not. But the 3500 drw is. It would be easier to install just one part on numerous trucks than it would be to have different parts for different trucks.

I have no idea what chevy is doing. Sorry.

Its probably just "one of those things" to set the GMC apart from Chevy. My grandpa was a GM mechanic back in the 50's. He told my dad, "You know what the difference is between Chevy and GMC? GMC uses lock washers!"

I did this on my Canyon AT4X and loved it. Miss not having these lights on the Sierra.
